The Lion in Winter’s form is strong, he looks uncomplicated and the stabke are winning all these trials with the horses fitter than they were a few weeks ago…but still I think they rushed to get him here and I’ve backed the race fit Alpine Trail instead.
May 15, 2025 at 14:33 #1730381There should be only one winner of the Dante in this beach weather – Tuscan Hills

Too lazy for form study today – just going to roar on the Lion in Summer!
May 15, 2025 at 14:53 #1730387Royal Playwright – w/o The Lion In Winter & Wimbledon Hawkeye – 8/1
Small win stake added at 19/1 also.
May 15, 2025 at 15:04 #1730388Anyone see Harvey just now with the hot wings lol. Hilarious if not scripted.
May 15, 2025 at 15:29 #1730399Ballydoyle have run away with many trials but the vast majority were not first time out and The Lion In Winter seems to have been rushed to get here. Can easily see him losing the Dante and winning the Derby.
I’ve backed Wimbledon Hawkeye and Alpine Trail along with a couple of 20/1+ Damysus and Royal Playwright.
Value Is EverythingMay 15, 2025 at 15:39 #1730402Not impressed with The Lion In Winter in the paddock looks like he might need the run.
Going EW Alpine Trail
He looks really well.Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 15, 2025 at 15:42 #1730403Staying on the Aidan / Moore train in the big ones until they come off track
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
May 15, 2025 at 15:45 #1730404I take it TLIW looks good in the paddock judged by the market.

May 15, 2025 at 15:52 #1730407The winner did it well.
The warning signs were there for The Lion In Winter. Sweated up, pulled like a mustang, never really travelled and met with interference.
He might do better at Epsom but he will need to show something like City Of Troy levels of improvement to win.
May 15, 2025 at 15:58 #1730408TLIW would’ve been a respectable 3rd i think if he didnt get snatched up by the one on the outside. Jockey accepted it once that happened. Wouldnt be surprised if we saw the real TLIW at Epsom.

The fellow didn’t look very pleased when he stole his pint!
May 15, 2025 at 16:07 #1730412You could tell by Beckett’s reaction after the race that he knows he’s got a good horse here.
Still, i would expect The Lion In Winter to improve a lot for that run and I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him win at Epsom, so I’ve taken the 6s.
May 15, 2025 at 16:08 #1730413TLIW seemed to be struggling mid race and never got going after that and then met trouble in running. He finished well after that though.
Nightwalker running on for 5th from a long way back worth watching in future.
Alpine Trail disappointing.Well done with Wimbledon Hawkeye EW green & GM23 also Ginge Damysus/Wimbledon Hawkeye nice place returns.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 15, 2025 at 16:23 #1730417Not sure about the form of the race. Swagman, which isn’t even entered for Epsom beat the second by the same distance snd isn’t quoted. Interesting to see if the fav even goes to Epsom. I reckon they may wait till royal ascot then the Irish Derby. Mount kilimanjaro looks a massive ew player. Twain still to run as well. Don’t think the winner will win the Derby. Maybe placed.
May 15, 2025 at 16:24 #1730418Looking at his Acomb again, sweated up there too – up the neck anyway… Right up with the pace that day. Today it seemed as if Ryan wanted some cover and initially the horse didn’t. imo Richard Hoilles is right. Although plenty of AOB’s have improved from their reappearance, there isn’t that much time between now and The Derby… And he’s not only got to improve his form massively, but his temperament too. He’s not going to stay another 2f unless he settles better in the first couple of furlongs.
If I were Coolmore he’d be going to the French Derby keeping to 10f or even St James’s Palace at 1m.
