February 28, 2003 at 00:26 #45684The virtual bank starts at 200pts.
In races of 8 or more runners, top two rated horses in each race are bet to level stakes.
In races of 7 or less runners, the top rated horse is the bet.
(total bet per race = 5% of bank)
In the event of two or more horses being equal rated, the one with the lowest RP tissue is the bet.
In the event of them being the same odds in the RP, half stake on each is the bet.
Where the odds are 9/1 or higher, the bet is E/W.
Tomorrows bets: 28/02/03
315 Newbury -
10pts win – Abalvino w2/1
350 Newbury -
5pts win – Pharpost 2nd 10/3
5pts win – Dark Room 3rd
410 Doncaster -
2.5pts E/W – Baby Gee 2nd 14/1
2.5pts E/W – Right N/R
Total Stake = 25pts
Returns = 41.25pts
Profit/Loss to date = +16.25pts
ROI to date (£25) = 165%
See how we do …
I’m paper trading this for myself, so I might as well share my results with everyone here :)
February 28, 2003 at 20:07 #45691snowman, they are my own variation on a computer program that I use. As and when need be, I will tweak here and there to get rid of as many bad results as possible. It’s trial and error at the moment.
I’m finding that the trick is to pick the right races to invest in. With practice it will become obvious which races tend to produce the best results. I’ve started off with the most valuable races of the day, and i’m trying to stick to chases where possible. But I will add things and take things away as I go.
February 28, 2003 at 20:14 #45692OK RD thanks. By the way I think you’ve done yourself down a little. Because of your N/R on day one shouldn’t your figures read 25 pts out 41.25 in? I know it’s still 16.25 pts profit but your ROI is better this way:biggrin:
February 28, 2003 at 20:51 #45693Sneaky LOL
I never noticed that. My thought was that I would have backed the horse and then been returned the money for a non-runner by my bookie. So it would have been part of the outlay in a way.
I take the point though. Nice tip, cheers :)
Just one point about the ratings. They are NOT speed ratings. I did call them speed ratings in the thread title, but they are not. They are percentage ratings (each horse’s chance of winning the race in question, as a percentage). I am going to change the formula for creating the ratings for Sunday. At the moment, the ratings cannot be compared race to race. Tomorrow’s ratings will be uniform across all three races. For example, a horse with a rating of 130 in the 2.05 will have a higher chance of success than a horse with 127 in the 2.30.
I’m just deciding the best way to do it at present. The ratings are really just an indicator to the chance of horse A over horses B, C and D at the moment. They do not have properties that would tell you strictly how good a horse is based on it’s rating.
Hell, as long as they chuck up winners I don’t really care what properties they have LOL
