Hope you guys don’t mind me starting my own little thread on here. Going to post all my racing bets in this thread with a view to finding plenty of winners and making some profit. I don’t really have any race preferences but I do tend to stick with the better quality stuff. With a good few days racing coming up, I thought it would be good time to get this started. I will keep a regular profit and loss but will start the thread at 0 and go from there. I do fancy a few tomorrow so will post them up soon. Wish me luck :good:

    2.40 Newmarket – Orvar £50 EW @ 9/1 PaddyPower

I was originally drawn to the Charlie Hills trained Elronaq in this but having looked at the form of his maiden win, I have decided to go again him. The Hannon yard has taken this race 4 out of the last 5 years and they appear to have 2 strong chances in Eltezam and Orvar. Slight preference is for Orvar who was sent off a well fancied 8/1 shot in the Windsor Castle but could only manage 6th. A couple of today’s rivals finished ahead of him in that race but I fancy the extra furlong here to really suit (as it should Areen). He finished well at Royal Ascot and would have got closer with a clearer run but hopefully he can make amends.

    3.15 Newmarket – Hillstar £50 EW @ 13/2 PaddyPower

Just like Richard Hannon in the 2.40, Sir Michael Stoute has an excellent record here and I do like the look of Hillstar. He went off an unfancied 16/1 shot in the Hardwicke but ran a decent enough race considering he was returning from a break having won at Woodbine back in October. He should come on plenty for that run and he is one of a few horses in the race that could go from the front. There are plenty in here that would not want this to become tactical and I believe Hillstar is better equipped than most should it turn out that way. The form of his grade 1 win at Woodbine took a boost the other day with Big Blue Kitten winning very nicely at Monmouth. Ryan Moore prefers Gospel Choir, but I don’t think he should be over half the odds of Hillstar so I am happy to take a chance on the Stoute second string. Should Hillstar not win, I would like Mahsoob to give a boost to the form of his Royal Ascot win for Mount Logan on Saturday.

A few tough results yesterday at Newmarket! Try again today… In Edinburgh all weekend for a stag do so will post a few bets today for today and tomorrow.

    2.40 Newmarket – Easton Angel £100 win @ 7/4 Bet365

I really like this horse especially with her stepping up in trip today. She was would have been a comfortable winner of the Queen Mary had it not been for the absolute speedball from America in Acapulco and I am hopeful she can make amends today by accounting for this field. Main danger looks to be Illuminate who has already proven herself at the trip by taking the Albany but I just have a niggling doubt about the Hannon horses at the moment and I am happy to take her on. Michael Dods has his team in good nick at the moment and this Easton Angel looks as though she can be a real star for the yard.

    3.15 Newmarket – Avenir Certain £100 win @ 4/1 Bet365

The French have taken this race twice in the last 6 years and they look to have a very good chance of winning it again with 3 runners. The one I prefer is Avenir Certain who is ridden by Christophe Soumillion. This horse looked a potential superstar last year winning her first 6 before finding the trip too far in the Arc. She needed the run on her reappearance and was probably left with too much to do last time out behind Fintry after racing freely. However I can see her turning the tables with both of her conquerors this season with Soumillion riding for the first time. She is clearly very talented and should go close if handling the quick ground.

    2.55 York – Kiyoshi £100 win @ 11/2 PaddyPower

I feel Kiyoshi is massively interesting dropping down to 6f for this. She was a very impressive winner of the Albany as a 2 year old and should have no problems dropping back. She is a strong traveller and will come on plenty for her run behind Majestic Queen at Lingfield. I am expecting similar results to what the yard have done with Muharar!

    3.25 York (Saturday) – Mount Logan £200 win @ 7/1 (I have taken 16’s)

Seen this horse tipped up on this forum by Steve Caution so had a good look and got involved. He looks to have a big chance despite Mahsoob disappointing yesterday. He would have gone very close in the Wolfreton with a clear run and he does look potentially group class. Interestingly Kirby rides Ajman Bridge but I see Kevin Stott riding as a positive. In the last 10 years many apprentice-ridden horses have won the race so with him taking 3lbs of his back he must have a huge chance. Cumain has never won this race but he looks to have a good chance in a couple of big races tomorrow. He fires 2 bullets at this and hopefully we are on the right one.

    3.45 Newmarket – Tropics £100 EW @ 16/1 PaddyPower

Dean Ivory was bullish about this ones chance before the Diamond Jubille where he ran no race whatsoever. I return to this CD should bring about a better performance and I can see him going very well. He looked impressive on his return at Windsor and he did manage to finish 2nd in this race last year at 66/1. He handles any ground and is getting better with age. Should those at the head of the market not turn up at their best, Tropics is one of a few that could take advantage. Pat Cosgrave takes over from regular rider Winston but he is riding well at the moment so I don’t see this as a problem.

Not the sort of start I wanted for this thread but could have been a totally different story had Tropics held on. Such a painful defeat but what can you do! I think the poorest selection so far has been Easton Angel but I think it’s fair to say better was expected. Koyoshi finished well to grab 3rd and maybe should have gone closer. Mount Logan will be very interesting stepping up 2f. Hopefully find a winner soon! Thanks VTC :good:

I wanted Tropics to win too, cpo but more for sentimental reasons. Was willing him home.

Mount Logan couldn’t quite do it but he finished well again for third. I try to pick these early at bigger odds so that it makes each-way a more attractive bet.

Luca Cumani said earlier in the week that both his horses probably want a mile and a half. It certainly looked like Mount Logan was crying out for it today. Oddly enough, Ajman Bridge seems to be in the Ebor but not Mount Logan. The way they ran today it seemed like it made more sense the other way round.

Hard Lines with Tropics, I thought he had it but Muhaarar just conjured up enough to get there.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I was very impressed with Dashing Star yesterday; have no idea what his aims are this year though.

Not sure what to make of the July Cup with so many of the main contenders finishing well down the field and the likes of Eastern Impact finishing 3rd! Didn’t see any racing over the weekend due to stag do duties in sunny Edinburgh but I do like the horse that beat Dashing Star. One horse I am excited by this season is Quest For More… did me a few favours last time out

    6.25 Longchamp – Ampere £120 win @ 11/4 SkyBet

Cracking race for a Tuesday and as much as I don’t really want to go against the British challengers I fancy Ampere to take this. Andre Fabre has a unbelievable record in this race and is unlucky not to have won the last 4. Last year was a bit of a shock but he usually runs a good one in this (Flintshire and Meander most recently) and judging Ampere on his first 2 runs he could be another top class horse from this stable. He showed a great turn of foot on his racecourse debut and then won the Prix Hoquart last time out despite being carried across the track by Cape Clear Island. The step up in trip will suit him and he should prove very tough to beat on home soil.

Humm well I thought it might stay in France but got the wrong horse. Pretty impressive from Erupt and I doubt Ampere would have got there with a clear run. Saying that he was stuck on the inside for quite a while…

One more of interest tonight at Lingfield.

    8.20 Lingfield – Touch The Clouds £25 EW @ 14/1 Bet365

This horse hasn’t raced in this grade for a long time and looks very well handicapped on old form if he can rediscover some old sparkle. He is 2 from 5 on the all weather with one of those wins coming over CD. He races here of 60 with Tom Marquand taking off a further 5lbs. I certainly think he is one that could go well at a big price considering how open this race is.

    1.40 Newmarket – Secret Art £50 EW @ 7/1 Bet365

Think I will take a chance on Secret Art here who got back to winning ways last time out. This is tougher and he is up in the weights but Callum Shepherd takes off a handy 7lbs and Secret Art did go well for him in the Spring Cup.

    3.20 Ripon – Lawyer £50 EW @ 12/1 Ladbrokes

Lawyer likes it here and I feel there are signs the yard are coming to the boil with some good recent performances. Lawyer hasn’t been cut any slack from the handicapper but there are valid excuses for his last couple of runs and I think he will go in this with the yard in coming into form. Gibbons back on board an obvious plus.

    2.00 Newbury – Redkhat £100 EW @ 11/2 Bet365

I am willing to forgive his latest run at Pontefract where he wasn’t the only one not to give his true running. He ran very promisingly on his seasonal reappearance behind Lightning Spear and that race has been franked since. This is a race that has been dominated by 4 year olds in recent seasons and I am happy to have a decent each way bet on this horse carrying top-weight. Roger Varian has his team in fine form and I am hopeful of a big run.

    5.50 Curragh – Together Forever £50 EW @ 12/1 William Hill

For some reason horses that raced at Royal Ascot have a terrible record in this so I am tempted to go against Curvy here with the O’Brien second string. She is already a group 1 winner form last year and ran well on her reappearance at York to go down by a head to Star of Seville. I think its fair to say both horses didn’t handle Epsom but Star of Seville has since freaked that form with a group 1 win in France. I think she is very interesting in this and can go well at decent odds.

    4.15 Curragh – Master Speaker £50 EW @ 9/1 PaddyPower

This horse is a CD winner and has been very consistent this season with 1 poor run coming when running over 5f at this track. He ran well over 5f at Dundalk recently finishing strongly behind Russian Soul and should be suited by stepping back up in trip. Jockey takes off a handy 5lbs and he should go close given luck in running.
