It would be a great race, but I’m not quite sure if it will happen.
April 12, 2016 at 23:06 #1242211I really hope it does!!!
April 13, 2016 at 03:09 #1242217I think Don cossack is the best horse and barring a fall or bad mistake will win. The quandary is which vatour will we get. If he is allowed to take them along at a good rattle he could take some stopping. A race to savour and no excuses.
April 19, 2016 at 19:15 #1242937I too hope the big 3 stand their ground and all 3 stand up as we want to know just who really is the King of the stayers…Well we all know that accolade sits on Cue cards shoulders and 2/1 will do for me.
April 19, 2016 at 22:19 #1242957Will Vautour turn up as he has been double entered at Sandown in Mullins push for English trainers championship – interestingly enough one of the races is the Celebration Chase, which Mullins has also entered Douvan and UDS for and which ground permitting will see Sprinter Sacre running in as well.
April 20, 2016 at 17:05 #1243010Is Silviniaco Conti also a likely runner? What a smash-up it’ll be if all these horses take part.
April 24, 2016 at 10:49 #1243518The Don is out of Punchestown.
This guy is a machine. All he does is work out and pick winners. Talk about fit. You should see him without his shirt off, serious side of beef.

Can I collect now? Not that it really made any difference if ‘Vautour’ and ‘Don Cossack’ had turned up anyway! Cue Card should go off 2/5 now and it ‘should’ be an exercise canter round Punchestown…Who says certainties get beat?
April 24, 2016 at 13:50 #1243534The way things are going it wouldn’t surprise me if he got beaten, I happened to look at the current entries and noticed that VVM is still in there, boy given what happened yesterday how ironic would it be if she ran and won…………………yes I know buckleys chance of her running but it certainly made me chuckle at the thought of it anyway.
April 25, 2016 at 07:55 #1243572I think Cue Card wins this barring a mishap, but at 4/7 he’s not a bet for me. If there
is any value left in the race, I think it;s with Carlingford Lough e/w at 20/1 with
Betvictor whilst they still have the race ante post and are showing 8 runners. I don’t
think there will be 8 runners go to post, BV still have Sir Des Champs in their field,
although by the betting elsewhere he looks an unlikely runner. I’m surprised Mullins
confirmed Djakadam to run, he looked like a horse that had a long season when he
finished looking tired at Aintree.Carlingford Lough ran not too badly in the Gold Cup considering that the ground was
against him. He will be the freshest horse in the race, all the others having taken
in engagements since Cheltenham, and that will play a part. You can’t dismiss his Irish
Gold Cup win as a fluke, and although Cue Card should take this I think he has a great
chance to get 3rd at worst in what will likely be a 7 runner race. Whilst he is ante post,
not for much longer, and whilst BV stand 20/1, I think he is a decent bet e/w.April 25, 2016 at 08:01 #1243574No bet race, Cue Card should win but after a long season the price doesn’t appeal to me. In truth it’s all a big anti climax for me now that Don’s not running
April 25, 2016 at 12:16 #1243588Surprised Djakadam is running as at Aintree he looked like Cheltenham had really left its mark – Don Poli could be interesting if they decide to make the running on him and turn it into a real war of attrition.
April 27, 2016 at 10:39 #1243712Such a shame that ‘The Don of the Staying Division’ can’t make the scoreline 4 – 1 against Cue Card this evening, but I’m sure the Colin Tizzard-trained superstar will try his utmost to bolster the Gold Cup form ;)
I’ve always been of the opinion that Cue Card is slightly better on a left-handed track. If you look at his overall career, the way he travelled at Haydock, Cheltenham and Aintree this season, and compare them to his narrow Kempton success then you can certainly argue that he is better counter clockwise. He has also had a long season, so a combination of these factors are enough to look elsewhere for a little value.
Road To Riches has not been out of the frame for over two years, competing over a variety of trips, tracks and conditions. He has not had as hard a campaign as others and was placed in this race last year. The drying ground and assistance of Davy Russell are further positives. Djakadam looked flat at Aintree, the ground has gone against both Don Poli and Carlingford Lough, while Foxrock doesn’t look good enough.
Cue Card will be hard to beat, but 10/1 Road To Riches is worth a small wager.

April 27, 2016 at 16:49 #1243740Hope you were on, Big G!
April 27, 2016 at 16:53 #1243742Is Road To Riches ok? I think it’s fair to say that Don Cossack would have moonwalked to victory!

April 27, 2016 at 17:22 #1243744Well done Big G!!

Apparently he is. I’m surprised (and delighted) as it looked a really nasty fall. I found a photo on Twitter of him being led away, apparently none the worse. I’d have added it if I could work out how to post photos on this forum!
And I agree about Don C
