Died of a heart attack. Sorry he didn’t have a longer retirement but looked like he enjoyed it when he appeared in the Retraining Racehorses events.

Sad news, but can you be more versatile than he was?
A Festival Bumper winner, 2nd to Sprinter in the Arkle, a Ryanair, KG, BF Chase, Ascot Chase and Betfair Bowl winner……
    Always exciting to watch.

    May he rest in peace.

Such awful news  shame he didn’t have longer, but at least I suppose he didn’t suffer.
He was due to parade on boxing day as well before the king George.

Magnificent, wonderful horse. I’ll always remember what Ruby allegedly said when he cruised past him in the champion bumper ( I won’t repeat it!). He really was a horse of a lifetime. Rest easy Cue Card. You were so loved.

Simply a wonderful racehorse. Classy and versatile, and he enjoyed a long career that lit up the majority of the 2010s. There were many highs, but his defeat of Vautour in the King George was the most memorable for me.

Very sad he did not enjoy a longer retirement, but he was clearly adored by connections and the racing public alike. RIP Cue Card

Sad to hear this news and very sorry for the Tizzards.

I saw the horse run twice at Aintree. The first time was his first run over hurdles. He confirmed the impression he made in the Champion Bumper.

The second time was when he won the Betfair Bowl on the Thursday. It was just a few weeks after he had fallen in the Gold Cup when chasing the £1 million bonus. I think the everyone in the crowd must have backed him. When he jumped the last several lengths clear, the cheer that went up was deafening! It was a louder cheer than most Grand National winners received. I have rarely, if ever, heard a crowd react like that – he was clearly very popular!

So sad to see his name here at the tender age of 16. A smashing horse, one of my all time favourites. Condolences to all his connections, he will be sorely missed by them and his many fans. Wish he could have had a longer retirement, but at least he went at quickly, at home, where he was so loved and well cared for.
    RIP beautiful boy.

Probably my all time favourite. The only horse I’ve ever gone to a meeting just to see one horse!

He had it all and just like Paddy Brennan his fall 3 out in the gold cup that year will stay with me until the day I die!

    Easy big fella x

Sad to hear this news today. He was such a charismatic horse much loved with a great following.
Wish he’d have had a bit longer, 16 is a fairly young age, but at least he was happy in his retirement surrounded by people who loved him.
R.I.P Cue Card handsome boy, run free ⚘

I still keep welling up when I think about his empty stable. And the Tizzards have had their fair share of bad luck. Beyond the emotional side it’s always good for a stable to have a retired superstar living there and he was the beginning of everything.Didn’t Colin said he switched from farming to create a legacy for his children and now there’s only Joe left ( although that will hopefully pass on to Freddie). I looked in my old Jumping Prospects books last night and there he was, year after year, totally reliable and getting better and better.

What a horse he was, ran so many great races and was so versatile too, just checked his profile and had forgotten he won the champion bumper by 8 lengths! It was not until the following season that I started watching racing.
