    Cracksmans to lose surely?

I’m on Idaho antepost at 9/1 but may have a bet on the favourite to win by 3 or more lengths if the price is ok on the day. Or perhaps I’ll play Cracksman to beat Idaho as a forecast instead.

Certainly expect myself to have another bet on the day when I arrive.

Anyone gonna have a bet in this?

Waiting on Cracksman to complete a double after Real winning on Saturday.

Hard to fathom that Cracksman was 8/1 at several stages for the Coronation Cup.

If he’s still got 4 legs it’s surely about how far?

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Famous last words but he would surely have to be well below his best or get caught out in a tactical race with a 2F burn up not to win this. My one very minor concern going in would have been reasonably quick ground on that course but with all the rain they have had (and more on the way) that is now gone.

It would be in Hawkbill & Buick’s best interest to make it a more messily run race from the front as the quicker they go the more it will play into Cracksman’s hand as he is a thorough stayer at this trip especially on the ground.

Dettori might have half a mind to make it himself if they do try to play silly buggers up front but otherwise you would assume he will sit on the leaders tail and pull out off the home turn and let that big powerful stride do the rest.

Seems simple on paper but I just hope that Dettori doesn’t find himself getting into the same traffic problems as he did in last year’s Derby trial.

    Hawkbill 6/1 each-way

Surely he’s the only horse in the race who could lower Cracksman’s colours and less we forget he defeated a Classic winner in a boggy ground Eclipse a couple of years ago.

The notion of Cracksman being slow LD73 is proven wrong when you look at the times he clocks and his sectionals, particularly his Ascot win at the backend of last season.

Track would be his only ? for me, but he seems a completely different beast to the one that ran in the Derby so I’d say that’s very likely immaterial also.

Cracksman to win by 3 or more lengths has been boosted today from 6/4 to 9/4. Thought that was a decent price so I’ve had a play. Unfortunately Skybet have let me have £20 maximum for this.

Final standing on the race for me:
    Idaho @ 9/1 (antepost)
Cracksman to win by 3 or more lengths @ 9/4

    Good luck all

LD73 he will sit second and follow Hawkbill I think. I don’t think Frankie needs to complicate it.

Kev – not saying he is slow just that he takes time to get rolling and doesn’t have that push button change of gear – the Ganay showed that when the pacemaker quickened off the turn and he wasn’t able to go with him initially, but once he got into full stride he did pick him up very quickly. The Ascot race from the start was run at a strong gallop (relatively speaking for a race on deep ground) and off that kind of sustained pace he is (as he showed) lethal.

Re the course, remember it was never connections plan to run him here (they were due to go to Ireland last Sunday) and he is only here because of Enable’s injury but given the ground will be soft I don’t think the course will be an issue now.

Mike – I believe those tactics are Plan A in the ideal scenario but if they do crawl early I don’t see it being an issue for Frankie to get on with it himself.

Dettori did his very best to get him beat giving his rival that kind of lead – gave him an unecessarily hard race, which hopefully won’t leave its mark on him.

well what do we make of that, obviously Idaho needs top of the ground so we can forgive him to a degree Salouen proved his Derby run was no fluke.
Cracksman never really travelled until the last 50 yards. Hawkbill was disappointing.

People will say Salouen had the run of the race but he did see off Hawkbill(readily)he had threatened at times he could run a big ‘un one day

Wasn’t a great run at all from Cracksman. Not as if it was a 1st time out either as he bolted up in the Ganay, he never looked comfortable.
Salouen ran a blinder he looks the image of his Dad.

LD73 – disagree completely. It was apparent from the break that Cracksman wasn’t at his best today, I thought Dettori gave him a superb ride to get him up. Silvestre De Sousa also gave Salouen a fantastic ride, one of the best losing rides you’ll ever see.

LD I thought the horse wasn’t travelling form a very early stage, I maybe wrong but I wouldn’t blame the jockey

Cracksman well below par there. Still shows the level of the horse to manage to win. Thought jockey rode the horse well considering his mount didn’t seem near his best from an early stage.
