How good does that make Dargiannini, who beat Langer Dan 49 lengths at Kempton in November?
March 13, 2024 at 15:24 #1685443The Irish do it all the time … Well done to them and a good ride by Skelton
March 13, 2024 at 15:25 #1685445lol why even bother interviewing the jockey and asking those questions after that, sums up why this sport is almost impossible unless you’re an insider. Glad I’m not betting on the horses these days!
March 13, 2024 at 15:26 #1685446Harry opening his big gob there..”12 months’ planning”…”the plan took a bit of hatching”
Enjoy it Harry cos the handicapper will show no mercy to any of your horses for about the next 3 years.
Fair point by HDLG though, it’s up to us to spot the plots.March 13, 2024 at 15:26 #1685447Because your daily English races are run at a crawl
Cheltenham is a specialist track

March 13, 2024 at 15:26 #1685448I said
“….a few ‘trainer plots’ in this race it seems”And the biggest one of the lot goes in. Harry S “we ran him cold a few times…”
Hmmm……
March 13, 2024 at 15:29 #1685449The whole point of a hcap is to be on a competitive mark …
March 13, 2024 at 15:30 #1685450It is not just this season. I remember seeing this horse run at Taunton about two seasons ago when he looked like a blatant non-trier. Of course, the stewards did not even look at it.
March 13, 2024 at 15:30 #1685451What a performance. The talk of the bleeding previously had put me off.
Thankfully, a few minutes before the race, I said screw it and he’s just pulled me back massively.
March 13, 2024 at 15:34 #1685454Bleeding?
Bloody cheating, more like. That the authorities allow them to get away with it every year is a farce.
March 13, 2024 at 15:41 #1685462If this was an Irish trained horse we’d be hearing a lot more.
tbh The handicapper is at as much fault as anyone. Why the handicapper dropped him isn’t easy to see.
Finished second in the Martin Pipe to the future Gold Cup winner, won a big Aintree handicap and won last year’s race. Obvious Langar Dan loves these big field handicaps in the Spring.
So why drop the horse this season for:
7 runner race at Kempton after 200+ days off – needed it…
Then two runs over a massively inadequate trip of 2 miles…
And a race where he had the obvious excuse of bleeding????
Value Is EverythingMarch 13, 2024 at 15:43 #1685465If Skelton isn’t careful he’ll get the Tony Martin treatment by the handicapper.
Good for the team today, but they might pay for it.
Value Is EverythingMarch 13, 2024 at 15:46 #1685467Leau Du Sud had that same ulcer problem when he blew out earlier this year.
March 13, 2024 at 15:50 #1685470We don’t like Champion races as they are not competitive
we don’t like mare races because it takes them away from championship races
we don’t like the Ryanair same reason
we don’t like the novice races because there are too many of them
and now we don’t like handicapsBlackbeard to conquer the World
March 13, 2024 at 15:53 #1685472Even bland Dan Barber on RTV said “some may find this winner distasteful”.
Well done to anyone who backed him but it is not a good look for the sport when a trainer (who has already been fined over another matter this week) so blatantly takes the p***.
March 13, 2024 at 15:56 #1685473Langer Dan has been well in for 5 years spinning
who is the handicapper? blind dave?Blackbeard to conquer the World
March 13, 2024 at 16:00 #1685474“tbh The handicapper is at as much fault as anyone.”
Agree Ginger, in fact he is probably most at fault. It is understandable for Skelton to game the system but the handicapper should not be such a mug to fall for it.
