With the ground likely to be testing on Wednesday I like the chances of Beacon Edge 12/1 and An Epic Song 20/1, the second in particular looks like a proper plot job. Martin Brassil is only sending two horses over for the festival and this one was given no chance in the handicap won by Gaelic Warrior last time out, held up in last place and ridden wide, had his trip hampered by fallers and looked like he was just lacking fitness. I highly doubt the trainer would be sending this horse here if he didn’t feel like he had him back to peak fitness and must like the horses mark too. I’ve also just noticed that Martin Brassil’s other runner at this years festival, Fastorslow, came 2nd in this race for the same connections last year!

Agree Ben. An Epic Song is a big bet for me. My only nagging doubt was the ground being too quick for him but that looks to have come his way now.

You have made out a good case for An Epic Song, Ben.

I still like HMS Seahorse. I backed him after he won at Navan and will back him again on the morning of the race.

But you have persuaded me to put a bet An Epic Song’s way as well.

Let’s hope he is a real plot job!

Same FF91, adding him to Icare Allen with same view.

Tempted to also add Scaramanga. First time hurdling for WPM, 3lb claimer is useful and won off 144 for Nicholls…went offf 6/4f for a g2 and is down 3lbs…

Same here Jack, really like the look of Scaramanga.

Reluctantly backing three here. Benson a straightforward pick from the Sandy Thomson yard, while the outsider of the field Elvis Mail, I’ve just got to cover to some extent.

Really like the Elliot pair Sa Suffeur and Riaan too, but although I haven’t actually bet them yet, this’ll be my trio.

Edit – Switched to Riaan from Scaramanga, but will have to cover him if he’s promising

    Benson 16’s
    Elvis Mail EW 8pls
    Riaan 25’s

Beacon Edge looks interesting over a nice hurdle mark. A big field 2m5f should suit him, I can see him staying on. Also had to add Langer Dan. Surely he has been aimed at this again. Two years ago he walked into Galopin du Champs and last year he was brought down. Maybe this will be the year? Finally I went for Grand Roi. Two times he was well fancied for this, but didn’t run accordingly. The fact that they are still trying it could mean that Gordon Ellition still has confidence in him.

    Beacon Edge 14/1 EW
    Grand Roi 40/1 EW
    Langer Dan 11/1 EW

My second one is beacon edge at 14s

His season went to pot over fences, signs of revival in the last run

Ran a belter in the stayers a couple of years ago not quite getting home

    Goes on any ground

Gets the services of top claimer Michael osullivan

    Big chance off 147

Mob handed here, as usual in the big handicaps:

    An Epic Song at 25s
    Icare Allen at 28s
    HMS Seahorse at 10s

Best of luck to all :good:

Fil d’Or and Icare Allen for me with good course form and probably over the right trip today.
I am duty bound to add Tax for Max as well but will wait till later, his price won’t get any shorter.

Like a few I like Iclare Allen and have him covered and as a huge Sandy Thomson ran I hoping and betting Benson can run a big one , at the bottom of the hcap Riaan could still be improving and looks a e.w value bet

Well done the Skeltons, if at first you don’t succeed…
