If Constitution Hill doesn’t run at Cheltenham, it could open the race up. Both Lossiemouth and Irish Point could switch races.
The best things in life are free.
But you can give them to the birds and bees.February 29, 2024 at 02:22 #1682929Not sure Lossiemouth would switch as they quoted her age (5) being the major factor in not going down the Champion Hurdle route this season, as it is so difficult going into open company as a 5 yr old.
If she repeats her Bula run she should win the Mares race pretty easily and I do think this is the best option for her this season as she is quite a big mare and another year on her back plus experience would better prepare her for a Champion Hurdle tilt next season.
Quite frankly if CH no shows then I doubt State Man would have little problem dealing with whoever else decides to turn up – to me Irish Point is a stayer (his most impressive run visually was when he stepped up to 3m on heavy ground last time out), his 2m form is way below what is required to get placed let alone win a Champion Hurdle and Elliott has said that he wouldn’t rule it out if the ground came up very soft.
February 29, 2024 at 04:53 #1682932Listening to Henderson I’m pretty sure he’s going to be ok
February 29, 2024 at 10:14 #1682943“Listening to Henderson”
Not a policy I’d recommend, as it’s always tedious and often misleading.
February 29, 2024 at 10:24 #1682945I am guessing he was pretty sure he was ok before he worked him at Kempton too – clearly he will recover, it is just the timeframe it will take for the course of anti-biotics to kick in and do their job.
Having thought about it, I would imagine that at some point next week he will have to give him a piece of more serious work to see how the horse responds to it and that will likely determine whether he gets declared or not.
The stable form is also a major worry – this month has seen just 5 winners from 36 runners at a strike rate of just 14% and in the last 14 days he has had just 1 winner from 12 runners (a strike rate of 8%) and over the last 9 days 6 of his 8 runners were pulled up.
February 29, 2024 at 12:29 #1682954“I don’t think he’ll run!”@kevinblake2011 is pessimistic on Constitution Hill's chances of making the Champion Hurdle…

Kevin Blake doesn’t think he will run
February 29, 2024 at 13:12 #1682958February 29, 2024 at 13:26 #1682960As LD73 says, he must have looked OK before the Kempton gallop, so the choice is picking a day midweek next week (guess at timing that might be late enough to let him rest and treatment work first, but early enough not to take the edge off him for D day) to work him hard enough to find out; or to not give him any searching gallops at all and just wing it on the day.
If it is a plain little mild bacterial infection, hopefully all OK..if it’s bacterial infection secondary to a virus…well, how quickly can he clear the virus bit of the problem by himself and recover to full revs?
He didn’t have a high temperature, which is hopeful, (unless they aren’t checking temps every day and missed an early temp spike) but the poor stable form would raise suspicion of a virus as the primary cause.
February 29, 2024 at 13:31 #1682961If it was any other horse in any other race he would already be ruled out for a race a week on Tuesday.
That’s the line.
That tells me: he probably won’t run, if he does he probably won’t even be favourite now and he’ll probably get beat.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 29, 2024 at 13:38 #1682962I think he’ll do a piece of work next week and if Nico believes he feels like his usual self, he’ll run.
February 29, 2024 at 14:26 #1682966Well that latest statement all but confirms that he wont run, “significant degree of inflammation”
February 29, 2024 at 14:30 #1682967February 29, 2024 at 14:39 #1682968It’s not looking good after the latest update. If his bloods aren’t perfect on Monday then that’s that.

February 29, 2024 at 21:36 #1682987Lossiemouth won’t switch because they know she can’t beat State Man and the Mares is a gimme if she stays the 2m4f.
They’d be mad to run Irish Point.
State Man is the Chuck Norris of 2m hurdling.
State Man can’t get ill – mucus is scared of State Man.
State Man has won 27 (alright eight) Grade 1s.
State Man has beaten up every horse in Mullins yard after lights out at evening stables – including Galopin Des Champs (that’s why he got beat twice after Cheltenham last year – he was mocking State Man for getting beat and State Man kicked the living daylights out of him, took him the rest of the year to recover).
State Man is your 2024 Champion Hurdle winner.

Soon be the flat where they race their RACE horses .March 1, 2024 at 12:57 #1683037No news on his scope today, is this ominous?
