The ground, the faster pace and the possibility of being surrounded by three or four horses could have gone badly against him. A good decision not to run him….

I don’t believe he would have beaten Lossiemouth anyway. The Constitution Hill of 2022 and 2023 would have done but that is not the level he is at now.

I know he beat her at Kempton on Boxing Day 2024 but that track suited him better than it suited her.

Agree with that. The 2022 and 2023 version of him was untouchable, but it would have been very tough today and she almost ran the “perfect” race today.

Constitution Hill wasn’t 100% when beating Lossiemouth at Kempton either. He was just returning from injury which caused him to miss the Fighting Fifth and Nicky said they had to push him really hard at home to get him ready for Christmas.
He should’ve gone straight to the Festival afterwards as he was always best fresh.

Lossiemouth was brilliant today and deserves all the praise. Constitution Hills jumps career is over and he’s been handled terribly this past couple off seasons imo.

This is all hypothetical obviously but in my opinion, he’d have beaten Lossiemouth today with a clear round of jumping.

He may not be the horse of 3 years ago but as we saw at Southwell, he’s still pretty damn electric. There’s no way Lossiemouth beats him on that nice quick ground today.

Regards State Man, I’m probably one of his biggest fans on here. I’m pretty sure he was 100% when CH thumped him and there’s no disgrace in that. CH is lb for lb the best hurdler in his prime most of us will ever see.

Willie has always been sore on the subject of CH and I feel he’s always been jealous of the horses high praise and huge following.

I’ve said it a few times but I’ll say it again, State Man faced Vauban 4 times that season. He never beat him further than he did on Champion Hurdle day when runner up to CH.

    CH was just untouchable.

And George Best is still remembered today and will be long after we’re gone HDLG.

“Where did it all go wrong Connie?” they asked as he strolled around the parade ring yesterday in his cosy rug , surrounded by adoring fans.

Yes GM , as a wasted talent , one of my hero’s is Bobby Moore , a fella who defeated cancer and won the world cup , that’s the point the hill has underachieved … massively

”Yes GM , as I wasted talent”

At the time maybe. Now just remembered as a phenomenal talent and the footage is available to see just how brilliant he was.

Bobby Moore won’t be remembered like Best because he just wasn’t as good. I’d bet few people outside of the UK even know who he is today.
People remember special talents and Constitution Hill was one no matter what he ended up achieving. He was unbeatable for 3 years including 2 Cheltenham Festival wins and the course track record. He achieved enough to leave his mark on the sport and won’t be forgotten for a very long time.

Best was a wasted talent, though. He was washed up and finished by his mid 20s.

Yes, he was brilliant when on song. But I sort of have more respect for less good players that made the most of their talent than I have for players who literally pissed their careers and their life away.

Lol people outside of the UK don’t know him , sorry your miles off the mark , Google Bobby and Pele were best mates , your missing the point George had unbelievable talent but was done at 26 , he wasted it , Bobby achieved much more because of his desire and work ethic , he won the world cup and was player of the tournament in 66

Phil Neville was better than George Best because he won more trophies.
