What is really getting up my nose here is that Ms Hislop has loaded the gun and left everyone else to fire the bullets and to my mind that is typical of the great majority of so-called journalists.

You have come across as a bit of a Wise Old Wolf since you started posting on here John and i was always taught to respect the elderly,i enjoy your contributions.Unfortunately i do like to tell it as it is and the above comment is a load of Bolloc*s! Lydia used to post on here until she was fired on herself,so she is hardly looking for anyone to pull her trigger, she is more than capable of bringing a couple of sharp shooters down herself and if she wanted to would post her opinion on here at any time! I have said it before but she is the only Professional Hack i turn to for advice as she tells it as it is,simple as that! AP knows he F***** up on GMOOH,but whats P*ssing him off is the fact he knows the horse wasn"t anywhere near ready and he"s the one left carrying the can and he really aint winning the hearts and minds of Joe Public with his tantrum!

I would love to know from Lydia and any of the other AP knockers exactly where do they think Get Me Out of Here would have finished had AP thrown the kitchen sink at him?

What possible satisfaction would it have given anyone to see the horse getting a hiding when he cleary had lost all chance of being placed.

I fully usderstand AP’s reaction to anyone questioning his decision to not be hard on a horse he felt at the time was beaten.

He probably just thought IDIOT!!!!! and I don’t mean to offend anyone but really critising a professional for accepting his mount had no chance has got to be right up there with the most stupid thing you could ever do if you want to gain a man’s respect.

I could undertsant it if there was a chance he could have been placed but that clearly wasn’t the case here.

What I really don’t like is this coming up at a time where AP has a vey good chance of becoming sports personality of the year which would be great for racing.

This ride wasn’t even worth mentioning it was so clear cut the horse was goosed when AP eased off yet someone decides to make a huge thing out of it.

Not a smart move and not going to win many friends within the racing fraternity I’m afraid.

Nothing wrong with critisism if it is well thought out and pointed in the right direction but AP has absolutely no case to answer here.

I recieved a lovely PM from Lydia on here just last week congratulating me, on well, doing what TAPK does best finding Ante-Post winners at big prices months in advance of the race! She was kind enough to suggest i spend my winnings from

    Workforce

wisely! We have a mutual admiration for

    Albertas Run

too, Lydia was the first to spot RSA aspirations for him but of course it was yours truly who put him up as the Cheltenham Banker of the week at 25/1 and backed him at 90"s! Cheers Ginge, its not easy being a modest Legend!

    Timeform Perspective:
"Get Me Out Of Here very much caught the eye…… taking a good hold held up and travelling smoothly for a long way, briefly asked for an effort 3 out but soon allowed to come home in his own time after the leaders quickened…."

"Briefly" being the word you might want to concentrate on.

This race qualified Get Me Out Of Here as a HORSE IN FOCUS (one to keep an eye on in future).

    Fist,
It was NOT ONLY Lydia who thought AP rode an ill-judged race. The point is – many people do believe GMOOH had a good chance of getting placed when eased (imo) prematurely.

Are you sure you’re not looking through blinkers on this one? Trainer being a friend of yours and all that.

Nobody is saying AP should have "thrown the kitchen sink at GMOOH". Just ridden the horse with more vigour in the straight.

Just because AP is in the hunt for the SP2010, does not mean things should be swept under the carpet. Although I do believe this was an ill-judged ride and no skulduggery involved.

No glasses and it wouldn’t matter to me if it was Donal Nolan who trained the horse or Micky Mouse who slagged off ap my response would be the same.

The way I saw it and the way it was, is AP gave the horse every chance to quicken and take it up going to the second last and within strides op just touching down in front Menorah and 3 others left him for dead because he simply blew up.

Sure he could have picked up the whip and started knocking hell out of him and you know what? he’d have found absolutely nothing as he was still racing because that’s the kind of horse he is.

Honestly go look at the horse not the jockey….he was still giving his all and but simply ran out of gas.

Now if you can’t see that and by God it’s not hard to see then you are the ones who need glasses.

You know when you are riding when a horse goes from underneath you and has nothing left to give……the big giveaway is you notice everything is going faster than you are FFS

So should AP have been upset at a suggestion he did something wrong..you can bet your life he should have.

McCoy (right), watching Racing Uk’s coverage in the weighing room, was furious when serially spiky presenter

Lydia Hislop criticised the great man’s riding of Get Me Out Of Here at Ascot.

So much so that McCoy, who is unfailingly affable with the media, wants nothing more to do with the channel when Lydia – unkindly nicknamed Hideous Flipflop by the jockeys – is around.

A Racing UK spokesman said: ‘We understand AP McCoy disagreed with a discussion point between our presenter and pundit which reflected a range of opinions on Get Me Out Of Here’s performance.

‘He declined an invitation to appear on the channel to elaborate or respond.

Are we all talking about the same ride?

I am talking about the GMOOH at Ascot.
Fist seems to be talking about GMOOH at Cheltenham.

The Ascot race was won by Emma Lavelle’s Tocca Ferro, with Menorah tucked up in his box down in the west country.

Would not be too hard on Fist.

More than once on this thread, people have asked what Lydia actually said. To my knowledge, none of us actually cleared things up.

Fist might just be talking about the right race, just got mixed up about the winner. :?

Ginge at the end of the day it doesn"t matter what Lydia did or didn"t say as she is a Professional Journalist, she knows the boundarys she is allowed to operate in and isn"t stupid enough to jeopardise her own integrity! I on the other hand am not a Professional Journalist and wouldn"t last five minutes as one as i would be telling AP MCcoy to get off his high horse and just carry on doing what he does best, riding winners! I for one dont need Tony telling me J,j O"Neills laying one out for the National or Binocular will magically recapture his magnificent form 3 days before the Champion Hurdle.all we ask is for a pleasant interview now and again, its no big deal! Racing would be the winner if AP won Sports Personality of the year, its his to lose!

To be honest you just made things 1000 times worse.

He wouldn’t have won at Ascot with a hurdles start.

No sense in me repeating what I said about that ride in another post but how could she make an issue about that race he was beaten miles out.

Something that was backed up by his run at Cheltenham which only goes to prove how far off the mark she was.

I once had a similar experience but was asking rather than telling. I had gone to Hexam with a jockey and he finished 9th of 17 runners without being knocked about. Like AP he hadn’t done a lot and I asked him if he had given him a stronger ride would he have won. He told me he might have finished 5th or 6th but rather than bring him on the chances were it would knock him back because he simply wasn’t straight enough to do himself justice. There’s no way he would lie to me, he was being totally honest but if you had asked me my opinion without talking to him I woud have argued with anyone who said he wouldn’t have got into the first 3.

That little experience taught me something

Now Lydia in her job knows a lot more jockeys and trainers than I ever did and I thinks it’s a safe bet she knows exactly why AP did what he did that day and she knows he was right to do it.

Just think what AP must have thought. Here’s a woman critising him but he knows, she knows full well, he doesn’t deserve to be critised and is just doing it to be contravesial and draw attention to herself.

    No wonder he was fuming
