    Congratulations.🤬🤬🤬🤬
This man & his rich owners are on the verge of killing NH racing here & in Ireland.
I have my own opinion on his dominance which I will not voice here.
Other than I personally will not watch NH racing again nor bet on it if Mullins has a runner.
The guy sickens me,as do people like RTV for sucking up to him constantly.

Look MissIsabella, what would you do in his position?

Would you say: “No, please don’t send me any more decent horses. I already have too many”. Or “This year we won’t have any runners at Cheltenham” ???

It’s not his fault that he has the right people around him and knows his job.

This year is what it is. But I hope that, next year he doesn’t need to go to tracks that he has never bothered with in the past to pick up extra prize money that smaller local trainers depend on to make a living. And I’m saying that as someone that has always liked him and have had the utmost respect for as a trainer and as a gentleman. Some trainers are really struggling at the moment.I do question what this trainers championship title adds to the sport.

Irish NH racing is in danger of becoming like Irish flat racing

A complete domination and barely worth watching

I could be wrong but I don’t think this will be the start of a run of trainer’s championships for Mullins in the UK. It just so happens that this season, for once, he was in with a shout as it’s been reaching it’s conclusion, so he has had a proper go at it. Thoughts?

I think the stars aligned for him this year. He had a good Cheltenham, helped by one of his main rivals being under a cloud. Would he have won the Champion and Triumph Hurdles otherwise? Then he won the Grand National and had to give it everything he had after that.

He cannot rely on all of that happening next season. If he does want to win the Championship again, he will need to have more runners in the regular season – but that does not appear to be his way of operating.

I largely agree with Moehat’s last post. To add to that, Mullins leaves me with a strong suspicion that there’s a broad streak covetousness running through his veins.
My nickname for Mullins is Abaddon … Lord of the Locusts. He sends his swarms from field to field devouring everything.

I wouldn’t be so sure Mike , Henderson has had a nightmare season , he’ll be back taking a slice of the prize money next year , that will effect Skelton /Nicholls more than Mullins on a day to day basis , I wouldn’t be surprised if Mullins has runners at the earlier Cheltenham , Betfair chase , Charlie Hall etc , he may well do what Elliott does and run his poorer horses at Ayr/Perth etc ..

I hope Mike’s right. But he has a lot of owners to keep happy. It’s just that I’ve always followed the small stables:Sheena West, Steph Hollinshead, Sophie Leech etc. At least the latter is running horses in France these days.

Willie Mullins has had 24 winners over here, many at a high level. Nothing to suggest that he’s treading on the toes of the smaller trainer. They have six months to be training winners, not two weeks. In any case this is supposed to be a sport, not a charity case.

I hope he has more runners over here. His runners are that much more reliable, and plenty of trainers could do with a kick up the backside. Raising the bar can’t be anything other than a good thing for the sport.

If Mullins wasn’t in the hunt and Nicholls and Skelton were fairly close in the closing stages of the season, do you think they’d be nobly and sportingly leaving “local races for local people”? Nope, they’d be pot hunting all over the country ripping every conditional+amateur handicap hurdle, veterans’ class 5 chase and donkey derby out of the hands of the Rose Dobbins of the world.

For that not to be so, there would have to be some sort of two tier racing system. Maybe a bit like an adaptation of Australian Metropolitan/Provincial/Country racing. The big meets at big tracks to count towards the trainers’s championship, the rest not.

I think Mike is right, I don’t think at the start of the season Mullins had any
aim or intention to be UK Champion Trainer, and I don’t think it will be at the
top of his “to do” list next season. It just happened that our racing, perhaps
Skelton and Nichols aside, has been really disappointing. I think if it’s being
handed to him on a plate, he’s not going to turn it down, but I think his intentions
will be as per every year prior to 2013/2014, he will be king of the hill in Ireland
and aim for the big races at Cheltenham. If we want to hand him it on a plate next
year, then good luck to him and shame on us. He’s a great trainer, there’s no doubt
about that, but I think the odds are heavily stacked against him repeating the feat
again. He’d be the 1st Irish Trainer to be Champion Trainer since Vincent O’Briwn in
1953/54. If they would give odds on it not being Nicholls, Henderson or Skelton next
year, I’d bite their hand off for it.

greenasgrass: I agree with what you say. That’s why I feel the trainers championship is a bit unsavoury.

Are we all lumping on the Mullins 1/7 chance in the first race at Ludlow? That £4,357 first prize could be vital…
