Yes I’m with you on that 16s for Heartache from a while back. Was a strange market at that point.

Happy Like A Fool surely won’t stay 6f? He’s, like so many of the American horses, all about speed so 6f would blunt him. I can’t see him running at Ascot this year tbh. They won’t have her take on Lady A in the kings stand and there’s nothing else over 5f he could go in.

Cheer up Steve, for what it’s worth, I’ve watched untold links which you have put up on here, in the short time that I’ve been around… I’m sure everyone appreciates this, even if they don’t post their undying love to you. It does not mean everyone is not interested.

You do tend to get rather ’emotional’ about it all, though.

I take racing VERY seriously… But not enough to argue with anyone and everyone, on the internet about it.

Once again, cheer up Steve :rose:

MoM – Happy Like A Fool is a filly, and she has already won over 6f at Belmont Park, winning by 3 lengths. She raced over 7f next time out and although she only finished 4th, she saw out the distance reasonably well and was only beaten in a bunched finish.

Both of these efforts came on dirt, which if I’m not mistaken places an even greater emphasis on stamina than fast conditions on turf would. I’m not aware of what her plans are for the upcoming season, but I see no reason why 6f would be a problem for her.

Cheers for the info Voleur. Had no idea she was a filly.

6f in a race round a tight track in the states against inferior opposition is hardly the same as a 6f dash against the best in Europe.

I just don’t think she’d last 6f with the top class horses we have over here. Pretty much a more emphatic version of what happened in last years lowther (even though that was 5f she faded in the last furlong).

There a very good race at Navan today where Different League makes her debut for AOB Aidan has said she need the run badly will come on for it a lot so has long as she run a decent race i be happy. And has other horses in Fleet Review and Sioux Nation. And Speak in Coulours trained by Joseph

Poor efforts from Aiden’s runners. Fleet Review, Sioux Nation and Different League all thrashed 5 lengths plus as the 97 rated The Broughie Man wins narrowly from Joseph’s Speak In Colours

No real impact on the Commonwealth Cup betting yet but Different League was 5/4 Fav today despite the trainer’s warnings and she’s been beaten 7 and three quarter lengths in a Listed contest by a horse whose previous best RPR was 92.

This is surely training in public and punters who are backing these short odds undercooked horses are shooting themselves in the foot time and again.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

It is 100% training in public and I think it needs to be addressed. I would like to see another run from any of them before I make a decision, because otherwise you may as well be guessing.

Degaussed to be fair, he’s very open about the fact they will need their runs. Also the 3 in bold in Steve’s comment all were much better on good ground, and once or twice NR’s due to soft ground.

People back these horses expecting them to be A1 on their season debuts, and that’s expecting a lot.

The US bred horses don’t tend to appreciate this early very heavy ground. I’d expect most will improve a fair bit for the run and for better ground, whether any of them figure in the Commonwealth is another thing.

It may seem harsh by me to be pointing out how poorly these horses ran but I noticed that Expert Eye got slated as a flop for running to 109, and then we get feedback that it’s acceptable for Different League to run to 78 on her seasonal debut, some 31 lbs below her best of 109, when 5/4 Fav for her race.

Come on now. There’s coming on for the race, and there is willingly running a horse more than two stone short of her form.

A lesser stable would probably be tackled about it but the big boys live by different rules, not Different League. A horse is supposed to be there to run on it’s merits and not to pump the punters up the pooper.

I didn’t have a bet on the race and fancy Heartache for the Commonwealth Cup.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

“He won the Prix Morny for us and has wintered really really well and looks fantastic. At the moment we are targeting him for the Sandy Lane followed by the Commonwealth Cup. He could be ready earlier than the Sandy Lane but I haven’t discussed beyond him running in that. The only other race he could go for would be the Pavilion Stakes at Ascot.”

Nice comments regarding UNFORTUNATELY by Karl Burke.

A bit better from Different League this evening but beaten favourite again in 4th place in Listed class. Out to 20/1 in placed now and needs to find form in a hurry.

Low draw on that track steve is hard to win most win races when drawn in middle very rare see group winners in sprints in low draw.Think better drawn at 6f see her in better light

I don’t like having to make excuses for horses Darren. A group 1 horse should be rattling home in lesser company.

A nice boost for the much overlooked Sands Of Mali today, when runner up from his last win, Alistair, confirmed what looked a much improved performance in running Sands Of Mali close, by landing a Group 3 sprint at rewarding odds of 7/1 at Maisons-Laffitte.

With US Navy Flag staying at a mile for now, he may end up arriving here as a bust. I wouldn’t want to be investing in him at lousy looking odds.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Taken a price of roughly 24s for UNFORTUNATELY on the machine. I think he will be an awful lot shorter once he has made his reappearance in the Sandy Lane, and his trainer was effusive when talking about how well he has wintered.

US Navy Flag seems like he is going to the Irish Guineas next, with the statement being that the French Guineas was inconclusive regarding the mile trip. Leaving it late to prime him for 6F here.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
