Not entirely sure Willie will want to wait until Leopardstown especially given the issue he has with how they prepare the ground for that Festival – will he risk hoping the weather steps in making it proper soft thus taking it out of the clerk of the course’s hands?
How ironic would it be if they both turned up and both get turned over by First Flow!
January 15, 2022 at 15:55 #1578217It,ll have to be very soft for that to happen LD
January 15, 2022 at 16:59 #1578235Yeah, I think it would also be very unlikely to happen even on very soft as Energumene has won on Irish heavy ground over 2m4f and I think they are both much slicker in the jumping department than FF is to – it was more a case of the fact that everyone (myself included) is talking about the big two as if they are the only ones capable of winning.
January 15, 2022 at 17:03 #1578238Who thinks Engerumene will win though ….I’m firmly in the Shiskin camp esp with yard banging in the winners now
January 15, 2022 at 18:17 #1578249I think he has a chance as I doubt Shishkin will have faced a quicker rival who is very slick at his fences plus the law of averages would suggest that Mullins is due one after Sprinter beat UDS and Altior put Min in his place but Energumene’s run style looks like it is tailor made for Shishkin to sit in behind and pounce late on.
I just hope they both bring their ‘A’ game and there is a clear cut no excuses winner on the day so we know where we stand.
January 15, 2022 at 18:24 #1578251Wouldn’t be the end of the world if Shishkin got turned over. Cheltenham suits him down to the ground. If the Mullins horse gets beat you’d might have to worry if he could turn it around
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
January 15, 2022 at 18:27 #1578254Good to see Shishkin running. Wouldn’t be surprised if Energeumene goes to the Dublin Festival with Chacun Pour Soi uncertain to make it.
January 16, 2022 at 10:49 #1578318LD Engerumene hasn’t ran against anything with the class of Shiskin , this isn’t going to be like beating Captain Business and Franco du port
January 16, 2022 at 10:57 #1578320HDLG, Shishkin’s beaten one open horse of any note- Greaneteen hardly that much better. Getting 3pds.
Doubt Energumene will travel anyway, has a perfectly suitable race at home. It’ll be disappointing, but it’s a G1. Ground the only concern at Leop.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 11:02 #1578322Jack Shiskin has won a Arkle …..

And what? Doesn’t change much from a form perspective does it? They’ve both beaten similar horses with ease.
PS i’d marginally favour Shishkin as i think he’s more versatile, but at this stage Greaneteen’s the difference to their form. Unless you all of a sudden think Eldorado Allen is worth singing and dancing over.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 11:15 #1578327Jack is Eldorado better than the horses Enger has beaten ….yes he is , what’s Engerumene best piece of form ? , yes he wins easily but this is a completely different kettle of fish , Shiskin destroyed the tingle creek winner while prob about 80% fit , he,ll pick Enger off after sitting behind him as and when he wants
January 16, 2022 at 11:21 #1578328LDs point is Shishkin hasn’t had a horse that can attack and go at the pace Energumene has. Which is probably true.
Eldorado isn’t much better though HDLG, i wouldn’t be singing and dancing about beating him, there’s not much between him + CG. For the record Eldorado is rated 5lb INFERIOR too CG. Captain G is 160 and Eldorado 155.
Both Shiskhin and Energumene have beaten him easy.
Greaneteen is the difference currently. To me, that doesn’t label one certain to be better than the other.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 11:29 #1578329Jack go and watch last year’s Arkle , see where Eldorado finishes compared to capt and franco …. Knock Eldorado all you want at least he,s won a good race this year , with the Nicholls tingle creek horses behind him , the handicappers aren’t always right , sometimes the eyes tell you more than a number on a page … In the case of Eldorado he,s got form in the book proving he,s better than both capt and Franco

I’ve not mentioned FDP once. Eldorado was ridden to finish that day, CG was keen and led with AMK for a good bit of the race. Slightly different. So my eyes tell me CG being beaten 1l by a held up horse is hardly form worth being certain over. He probably comes out of it ahead of EA in fact.
Either way- Even if you think he’s better than CG, he’s not lightyears better.
Handicapper certainly isn’t always right, but he’s unlikely to be miles wrong, like you’re suggesting here.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 16, 2022 at 11:55 #1578336Regardless of who would win,
Jack is correct, shishkin hasnt beaten better horses on ratings… its very similar, greanateen is the stand out on both there form, but energumene buried janidil, who has gotten close to allaho…. Theres not much in the formline, currently
So not sure where the notion of that is, if your going off visuals youd be hard pressed to split them aswell…
Hence the reason why there rated 171&172…
January 16, 2022 at 12:04 #1578338Ham everyman and his dog knows Allaho comes on mountains for the first run , to say that flatters Janidil is a understatement , im looking forward to seeing it whether it’s here or Cheltenham but Shiskin in my eyes will win , here,s prob Enter best chance , we don’t know how and if he,ll handle Cheltenham
