The big rematch between un de sceaux and defi du seuil
Probably my two favourite horses in training
Not a betting race for me but very much looking forward to it, though if I can find defi du seuil to win by less than a length I could be tempted if it’s a decent price
Opinions?
January 18, 2020 at 09:13 #1480074Ideal conditions for UDS really hope he does it! Not a betting race for me but I do feel UDS is perfect for Defi’s stalk and pounce style. Such a tricky one.
Forum is so quiet, wish they’d fix it peoples posts are being missed

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 18, 2020 at 11:04 #1480090I think Defi will just sit in behind and wait till the last and get past Un des Sceaux. Would love to see Un des Sceaux win though.
January 18, 2020 at 11:53 #1480102It wasn’t a betting race for me either, it should be a great tussle between
Un des Sceaux and Defi, but I can’t help thinking that Janika demands a
bit more respect than the 12/1 that’s on offer. I don’t think we’ve seen the best
of this horse yet. I’ll have a few quid on him and enjoy it regardless.January 18, 2020 at 15:51 #1480165That’s a proper horse and he,ll have to much speed for Altior
January 18, 2020 at 16:20 #1480177From an early stage you could clearly see Townend hadn’t/wasn’t going fast enough – it may have made no difference but UDS main weapon has always been his ability to maintain a relentless gallop in deep ground but instead we got a race that turned into a bit of a burn up (relatively speaking) from the 4th last, which played entirely to the horse with the better turn of foot.
Defi has done all that has been asked of him and at this stage and is a worthy fav for the QMCC especially given that Hendo may have screwed up Altior by looking to go up in trip and not having him fit enough for a race that I think knocked the stuffing out of him. If (a big one at this stage) he can get him back I think he would still win the QMCC but a lot will depend on what Altior we see at Newbury (assuming he makes it there).
January 18, 2020 at 17:10 #1480178Would be very wary of this race as a benchmark for DDS, odd race and the proximity of the 3rd to even first does put a stain on it for me
January 18, 2020 at 17:33 #1480181Haven’t seen the sectionals yet ham but proximity of the 3rd is likely due to the slow pace not the weak form. Besides dds couldn’t have won any easier, especially for a horse that doesn’t do much in front. Dds gives me the feeling that no matter how much better the opposition is he will always find just enough to win and never win by half the track
January 18, 2020 at 17:49 #1480185Smooth as silk, tho as ham says the proximity of the 3rd casts a slight shadow, And tho UDS seemed to jump well, he is 12. DDS a worthy fav for whichever race he takes on at the festival

I thought it was a bit odd. You could see UDS’ jaw crossed most of the race as he pulled to go faster. Of course Defi stays but so does UDS so why not just let him rip. Given how well Defi finished he likely still would have won I suppose- and at least neither horse got a mincer of a race.
January 18, 2020 at 19:40 #1480197Impressive by Defi du Seuil. I agree that Un des Sceaux didn’t run his race, he hardly got away from Marracudja. Altior will need to be back at his best to defeat Defi.
