he began his career with a guy who has trained 1 winner in the last 5 years
In fairness to David McLeod (for it is he), that training career only started in January 2004 and finished in June 2006, and also included three winners on the Flat (all rated in the high 70s).
It is true to say that some of Maurice Chapman’s horses improved leaps and bounds for their move from MacLeod to Jimmy Moffatt, however. Chief Dan George would be the obvious example, but another animal, Browneyes Blue, has won three hurdles under Moffatt’s guidance in 2007 having failed to make the frame in 13 bumper / hurdle runs for MacLeod previously.
I’ve no idea what MacLeod is up to at present.

November 29, 2007 at 15:25 #127781Just going back to Special Envoy, is it justified that he has been raised 14 pounds for falling last week, forcing Bowen’s hand into running him in a conditions race?
As a further point, I agree with earlier comments about his chances saturday if suffering no ill effects from his fall. Black Jack Ketchum looks no value at 5/2 and Blazing Bailey ran reprehensibly at Cheltenham.
November 29, 2007 at 17:49 #127798He was cantering when he came down Anzum – would be wrong if the handicapper didn’t put him up somewhat and it was a very competitive field he was hacking all over so I feel 14lbs is fair enough.
If that forces them to go for the conditions races then so be it, I’d have the same view had SE fallen in a 0-110 race.
