Interestingly, the horses boxed in 9, 11, 12 and 13 in a 13 runner race have been declared non-runners. The BHA really should look into the curse that the outside stalls puts on horses drawn there. It’s just not fair. Come on Chester Stalls, either put a curse on all runners, or none at all!
June 28, 2008 at 10:47 #170485..and they all used the "going" as the reason for withdrawal!
June 28, 2008 at 10:53 #170487Surely it’s about time the BHA draw up a list of course & disances with big draw biases (maybe they already have one in their file draw marked ‘watergate’). Any horse that becomes a non-runner from a poor draw over one of these C&Ds should automatically be given the worst draw next time they enter a C&D on the list.
June 28, 2008 at 10:56 #170488Same happened with the low draw runners at Beverley on Tuesday (as per usual) although Jun Fan almost managed to win off stall 2 finishing second,so it can be done!
June 28, 2008 at 10:56 #170489To be honest, Chester should just reduce the safety limit to 9 and stage 8 race cards, dividing the bigger fields.
No-one wants to run from a double figure draw and we get multiple NRs every time, so why bother having these field sizes?
June 28, 2008 at 11:01 #170490What can you expect with 48 hour decs? The going was good to firm (watered) when they declared, very much on the soft (watered) side now.
June 28, 2008 at 11:09 #170492Seems that it could be just coincidence this time. None of the four withdrawn horses have won on soft ground.

Is that the official plans for racing’s future you’re revealing there TDK?
Can’t say I’m a fan of small field races at Chester after the most brazen carve up last night.
June 28, 2008 at 11:59 #170509Do articulate, Glenn.
Didn’t see any of the racing last night.
