Currently inspecting after the first race and I get all the safety factors that are involved but why are the punters/spectators never taken into consideration? We can’t see a thing, call it off. Unless visibility improves I won’t be betting at Chepstow this afternoon.

I posted in the Welsh National thread earlier.
I live across the bridge in North Bristol, so close to The Severn, and it was very misty here earlier, but it’s cleared here in last 30 mins.
Every chance it might clear ‘over that side’ in next 30 mins or so.
    Fingers crossed.

I hope so Wilts, as I always enjoy the Welsh National.

A slight breeze has developed here, which has prob helped it clear, so, hopefully, it’ll do the same ‘over the bridge’.
I’m watching the 12.30 on SSR and, erm, i can see sweet fanny adams

I was at Aintree yesterday in the fog. At the start of the meeting the last obstacle was visible but even that was a bit difficult to see by the time of the third race.

I left after watching the King George in the bar. There was very little point waiting for the last two races because the fog was getting steadily worse.

I recognise the argument about how it is meant to be a spectator sport. I made the same argument here after a fog affected meeting at Wincanton:

    Fog

However, that was when the fog was so thick even the finishing line could not be seen from the stands. It was not as bad as that yesterday, nor does it look as bad at Chepstow today.

I think most of the crowd still wanted racing to go ahead yesterday. It obviously wasn’t ideal but everyone tried to make the best of it. At least Potters Charm landed me a nice bet – even if I saw almost nothing!

I assume Aintree must have a list of the spectators who bought their tickets online. It would be a nice gesture to offer us all a discount for a future meeting but I am not holding my breath!

The fog’s really come down again at Chepstow.
We’re clear here, just across the other side of the Severn.

Place your bets….on who’s in the lead when ‘coming out’ of the fog, in the straight.

Luke Harvey, just now, at Chepstow:
” the fog has lifted somewhat”.

Really?! Doesnt look like it, watching this race now on telly.

Perhaps he can now see his hand in front of his face? ;-)
