I put these short lists up last year and they did very well…….until the last day when the wheels became detached.
My brother came up with this idea for the Festival a few years and it’s regularly done the business.
Rules are simple
a) Placed 1st or 2nd l.t.o
b) Run no more than four times this season.
The list made a good profit in 2005 and a small loss last year.
Today’s lists are:
2.00
Cedrus Libani
De Valira
Ebaziyan
Granit Jack
Hobbs Hill
I’m So Lucky
Le Burf
Tyson
Amaretto Rose
2.35
Buena Vista
Don’t Push It
Faasel
Lennon
Jack The Giant
Twist Magic
3.15
Afsoun
Brave Inca
Detroit City
Hardy Eustace
Straw Bear
Sublimity
4.00
Little Brick
Juveigneur
New Alco
Distant Thunder
Rambling Minster
4.40
Spotthedifference
L’Aventure
Heads Onthe Ground

March 13, 2007 at 19:43 #70730A very good first day. Three winners and desperately close in the William Hill Handicap Chase, first and second everywhere but the line! (One of my favourites won it, Joe’s Edge, so I can live with that)
35 selections 3 winners
Returned 61.5 pts (175%)
The qualifier Heads Onthe Ground qualified on some sources but not with those showing Irish point form. I’m using the Racing Post web site for qualifiers if there’s any doubt.
Selections for Wednesday 14th March
2.00
Duc De Regniere
Imperial Commander
Scotirish
Silverburn
Tidal Bay
Raslan
2.35
Aces Four
Denman
Eurochancer
Ungaro
Turko
3.15
Ashley Brook
Dempsey
Justified
Newmill
Well Chief
4.00
Powerstation
Copsale Lad
Royal Paradise
Rayshan
4.40
Alright Now M’Lad
Little Big Horse
5.20
I’ve left this one out because the conditions almost always ensure that most if not all runners qualify. On this occasion they all do, and common sense has to be applied. Ironically last year’s winner covered the losers, but that’s basically luck so no selections given.

March 14, 2007 at 19:50 #70733A disappointing day today, although three decent priced seconds was a bit frustrating.
57 selections so far with 4 winners.
Returns 63.7 (111.7%)
Still in front though going into a day in which most of the race pad out the meeting. Three days is enough and it should have stayed that way. Labelling it ‘Ladies Day’ merely added to the sacrilege.
On to the shortlists for Thursday

March 15, 2007 at 19:54 #70734I was a bit cutting about the quality of today’s racing. Having seen the Ryanair Chase I have to say that was as good a race as you will see. Then Inglis Drever, incredibly talented but just slightly quirky, just held the gallant Mighty Man. The Racing Post Plate wasn’t bad either!
Only two winners for the lists at 5/1 and 9/2, so a fair bit of making up to do on the last day.
85 selections, 6 winners and returns of 75.2 pts
One disappointment has been the lack of winners in the handicaps, only Burntoakboy. It could be to do with the harsher handicapping of winners in recent times, so maybe a slight rethink is required for the future. However, on to the final day’s shortlists……
2.00
Alqaab
Convincing
Counting House
Degas Art
Duty
Liberate
Lightning Strike
Mobaasher
Mountain
Punjabi

3.15
Cane Brake
L’Ami
My Will
State Of Play
The Listener
Turpin Green
4.00 (source is Racing Post web site, so no point-to-point form included)
Beauchamp Oracle
Bica
Big Zoomo
Carryonharry
Cobreces
Foly Pleasant
Honourable Spider
Knife Edge
Moonoki
Oscar India
Sonevafushi
Waking Ned
Whyso Mayo

5.20
Osana
Ouninpohja
Lord Henry
Gods Token
Ameeq
March 16, 2007 at 11:54 #70735I wonder if there is another filter or rule you could apply to narrow down the number of selections Rob?
