It will take a good horse, and a very good performance to beat Imperial Commander next season in the Gold Cup.

Imperial Commander was impressive and I ammazed people are saying that the winner of next years Gold Cup will come from the RSA Chase I personally think they have to improve beyond recognition to win a Gold Cup any year let alone next year. Long Run has a massive engine but is a guesser as a jumper and Punchestowns has been found out big time at the highest level and the winner Weapons Amnesty (which I backed by the way!) just isnt quick enough to be a Gold Cup winner.

I have an opinion and I am entitled to it!!

One thing is for sure…..the 2011 Gold Cup winner won’t come out of the 2010 field

What makes you so sure exactly? Cooldine was rated a reasonable winner of an RSA and couldn’t even place in a year when the favourite fell. Horses like Weapons Amnesty will have to improve 20 odd lbs to be involved. How can you be so sure they are capable of this?

I hadn’t considered any of the RSA runners either, possibly Weapons Amnesty but I can suggest five at least infront of him already for next years Gold Cup

    AN SIORRAC
    BIG BUCKS
    JONCOL
    SOMERSBY
    WEIRD AL

    add

PANDORAMA if the ground is heavy
SIZING EUROPE already a winner over 2 1/2 miles trainer ha considered stepping him up in distance next year
    WHAT A FRIEND

    all listed in aphabetic order

    Weapons Amnesty

bursts clear of One of Nicky Hendersons best ever horses (Long run) going to the last! He is a serious player in next years Gold Cup! An Siorrac hasn"t got a prayer!

It will take a good one to topple Imperial Commander,he won that very comfortably, trouble is he"s only 5/1,

    Somersby

    is 16"s from 20"s and

    Weapons Amnesty

    is between 8"s and 10"s! Mikael at 25"s?? :)

    Easter Hero
    Golden Miller
    Cottage Rake
    Arkle
    L’Escargo
    Best Mate
    Kauto Star

These are the only dual (or more) winners of The Gold Cup in the last 100 years. In all seriousness can anyone really imagine seeing Imperial Commander’s name added to that illustrious list?…I think not!
I rest my case, your honour :D

It’s no secret how "highly" I rate Long Run about the same as Knockara Beau sounds fair

He is a serious player in next years Gold Cup!

As we say in Scotland, "Aye, That’ll be right!"

An Siorrac hasn"t got a prayer!

These are words you will live to regret, he will have won (at least one) Gold Cup by 2012

Which Imperial Commander is that? Look through his record, he’s one of the least consistent winners of The Gold Cup in living memory…as someone else pointed out, if he’d been trained by Barney Curley both horse and trainer would have been warned off by now

    I beg to differ.

Best Mate was a better Gold Cup winner than he is given credit for. To win three consectutive Gold Cups is no mean feat.

Imperial Commander is capable of winning another but I will be most surprised if he wins three.

Simple truth is that Best Mate’s form was not in the same league as the form of IC’s win the other day and I don’t think he was all that. I don’t care what his overall profile looks like – IC is a MONSTER.

If 11111111’s get you excited then good for you.

Personally I don’t select/rate horses based on the number of 1’s in their form.

Even if three of these are Gold Cups??????????????

It’s the percentage of times IC’s been out of the frame that makes me think he’ll be a very lowly rated Gold Cup winner in years to come, even Cool Dawn had a higher ratio of 1-2-3 placings to runs that IC :(

Not IC’s fault that his trainer has raced him when not fresh enough.

You fail to see the wood from the trees Cheltenham!Imperial Commanders whole career has been geared to winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup as a 9yo,some of us knew that!
