The New kid on the block makes his seasonal appearance tomorrow at Carlisle over a trip way too short! A trip to Newbury will then be on the cards for the Hennessey Gold Cup over an ideal 31/4m! Albertas Run will
then be seen as a creditable pretender to Denman/Kauto"s throne!! Come March he will be around the 10/1 mark for glory so snap up any 33/1 thats available still now! He could surprise a few people this season, as Cheltenham is his favourite course! settles, stays, travels, jumps and quickens! 3rd to the big 2 would be no disgrace! but i think he could be in the shake up!November 2, 2008 at 04:00 #187526Carlisle is a very stiff track and Albertas Run willl be very much at home round there. He’s a fair horse over 2m4f and Tidal Bay’s trainer says he will need the run. AR could have run over 3 miles a Wetherby if the distance was going to be a problem.
I doubt very much that he will go to Newbury and take on Big Bucks again after Aintree. Jonjo will most likely send Exotic Dancer as going for the Betfair now looks a waste of time.
That;s my opinion for what it’s worth but much will depend on how the two shape up over the next two weeks but at this stage even Jonjo won’t be sure which will run where.
November 2, 2008 at 15:10 #187562It would be interesting if Exotic Dancer did run in the Hennessey with
11-10lb because Albertas run would get about 17lb from him! Big bucks was flattered at Aintree! Albertas ran a little flat that day!November 2, 2008 at 17:08 #187583Hi there, a good friend of mine works for the BBC and speaks to the trainers quite often i have found out that Jonjo O’niell think that Albertas Run will beat Tidal Bay today. Will be a good race and i hope AR can win. Also Jonjo said 2010 GC!:)

Or backing horses because you’ve heard a tip from a bloke you kind of know who heard it from a bloke he knows who allegedly heard it from the horse’s mouth.
November 3, 2008 at 00:11 #187632You cant help but be dissapointed with the performance of Albertas Run at
Carlisle today! A distance last of 4 never looking like threatening the winner, and yet i still think he is the one to beat in the Hennessey, purely
on what he achieved last season makes him a big player,I wont write him
off on one bad run particularly 1st time out but had Kauto star run like that
yesterday we would be slating him! That is the difference in training styles
of P.Nicholls and J,J.O"Neill!!November 3, 2008 at 00:49 #187638Very optimistic of you. On the plus side, Exotic Dancer ran moderately in the same race a couple of years ago before improving about nine stone (I’m kidding) in the next few months.

Ridiculous.
It couldn’t have been any more than about 8-11.
November 4, 2008 at 01:25 #187805I am of the theory that the big 2 Denman/Kauto are not worth backing Ante-post for the Gold Cup which is over 4 months away purely at the restrictive odds they currently trade and the fact that the P.Nicholls camp
are split as to who is actually the better! Their form is above every horse that has challenged them and failed so i am looking for something that hasn"t run against either but is progressing with experience and has Gold Cup aspirations! ALBERTAS RUN ticks all the boxes and at 33/1 could be an e/w player! After he has won the Hennessey he will be aimed for the Gold Cup! Trevor Hemmings knows this horse has a touch of the Trabolgans about him!November 4, 2008 at 01:46 #187810Trevor Hemmings knows this horse has a touch of the Trabolgans about him!
We won’t be seeing him for 3 years then!

There is no way in hell that Albertas Run is up to winning a Gold Cup, especially with the likes of Denman, Kauto Star, Neptune Collonges, Air Force One and even Roll Along around. The last-named of that quintet intrigues me most having won extremely well at Ascot on Saturday, but he’s a horse prone to mistakes and he couldn’t afford any in the company he’d likely keep in the better staying chases.
I can’t bring myself to bet ante-post on the race – not least because the prices about the main protagonists won’t change all that much between now and March – but am hoping that the ground comes up good. I don’t think Denman was entirely suited by the testing conditions eight months ago, just more suited than either Kauto Star or Neptune Collonges. So, if we have a similarly easy surface this time around then Denman would have to be the call (Neptune Collonges could be a massive threat but, as last season proved, there’s no obvious way to ride him tactics wise). If not, then Kauto may just have enough of a turn of foot to kill Denman off.
It’s certainly a mouth-watering prospect and potentially one of the best races in recent history.

Alberta’s Run to end the forth-coming recession and everything else.
November 4, 2008 at 02:50 #187831Rory, Time will tell! I suggest you take another look at last seasons Sun alliance chase and the horses behind Albertas Run! Another interesting
point is just how highly P.Nicholls rates Big Bucks who will hopefully meet
the progressive Albertas in the Hennessey the pecking order will be much clearer then!November 4, 2008 at 03:00 #187835AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
How many times does it need to be said, Albertas Run is not even close to being Gold Cup standard. If, as it appears, you want to use literal interpretations of form, how do you explain the one length defeat of Joe Lively at Aintree? Big scalp, huh?
The lack of requisite ability aside, would you really want a horse apparently capable of troubling the Gold Cup principals to be in training with Jonjo?
He’s got no chance.

the progressive Albertas in the Hennessey the pecking order will be much clearer then!I don’t doubt that Alberta’s Run is (or at least was) decent, but you’ve already celebrated his victory in the Hennessy and are virtually leading him into the winner’s enclosure at Cheltenham. You may be getting slightly ahead of yourself, especially after Sunday’s no show, that’s all I’m saying.
