I can see State Man and Facile Vega going chasing. Impaire Et Passe more likely to go Champion Hurdle. I think Constitution Hill will go chasing, Marine Nationale too, leaving IEP with a free run at the Champion Hurdle. 6/1 is very tempting, even this far out.
March 21, 2023 at 17:16 #1640865I think Facile Vega will go chasing but Mullins can afford to see which way the cat jumps with Constitution Hill before he makes a decision about State Man. Henderson tends to get his good novice chasers (Jonbon, Shishkin, Altior) out near the end of November which is about Morgiana time, but Willie can send Il Etait Temps or Vauban out to win that (probably Vauban to keep Ricci happy) and sit tight with State Man if need be.
I think State Man will stay hurdling regardless, anyway. Lots of nice G1s to be won in Ireland and he has spent the season improving the horse’s hurdling technique, why chuck it away now. I also think that there will be a lot lot more chat about Constitution Hill over fences, and that there will be a trainer interview at the start of the season saying he schooled over a few and he was so terrifyingly frighteningly good and slick over them that Nicky actually wet his pants, then they’ll swither a bit and Nicky will get his way and he’ll stay over hurdles.
I really hope Impaire et Passe goes over fences. He’s a beast. Marine Nationale- fences, I think, the trainer seems to know his own mind.
March 22, 2023 at 17:45 #1640978Having watched the way Bronn travels and jumps I think the Ryanair might be the best target, especially since his blue riband winning stablemate looks on another level. It’s a bit off putting that Mullins junior seems to think he’s a staying handicapper but anyway I got him added to the Ryanair market. B365 offered 33s so I’ve taken that. (I also asked PaddyPower for a price via the chat message but was simply advised by the (person? Chatbot? ) on the other end to request via twitter. My reply that I don’t have twitter was met with confused silence).
As an aside, the irishracing.com website has I am Maximus as being owned by JP which may expain why he has shortened up another couple of points for the NH chase. He actually ran and jumped pretty well in the BANC, if you can ignore his distracting cement mixer action, and finished best of the hold up horses so I suppose his price isn’t too unrealistic.
March 22, 2023 at 20:18 #1641001“On the contrary, Facile Vega obviously not the speediest 2mile hurdler around so can see Willie thinking it’d be wise to step him up in trip”
Travelled strongly and tanked his way to the front in the Supreme then got tired on the run in
Doesn’t suggest he wants further to me
He looks all speed
Whereas impaire relaxes very nicely and stayed the 2m5f strongly but also has a turn of foot which is a potent weapon at 2 and a half
Long way to go though and I need a few months off from mullins bingo hahaha
March 24, 2023 at 10:40 #1641170Nothing as exciting as 2023 where I hit the bar with GDC, CH, Jonbon and FV to win any race at 150/1 and 100/1 1st, 1st, 2nd and 2nd close but no cigar
I have a few nuggets on for 2024
Constitution Hill, GDC, El Fabiolo and A Dream To Share all to win any race @ 50/1
looked about the best on offer
potential clash if CH goes Champion ChaseGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
March 25, 2023 at 03:26 #1641261I’d be a little surprised if Constitution Hill missed a novice campaign next year Nathan. If the Gold Cup is eventually on the agenda, then he has age and being lightly raced on his side, so no need to rush him.
He’ll probably have three relatively easy runs over fences before Cheltenham, then it will all focus on the Gold Cup if he passes that test with flying colours.
March 25, 2023 at 11:00 #1641302Only one of the quartet getting beat is hitting the bar – two getting beat is hitting the back stanchion of the goal net with a shot narrowly off target, but covered by the keeper anyway.*

March 25, 2023 at 12:04 #1641314As did I.
And with Mighty Potter ante-post at 5/1 in the Turners my shot ended up in Row Z where the match ball was picked up by an enterprising young child who promptly exited the stadium with it.

We will forever believe “we wuz robbed” there, CAS.
And if Banbridge ever hammers Stage Star at levels….
Tremendous treble, Nathan, just the two non stayers in there.
Maybe our beloved Gaelic Warrior is crying out for 3m but, if that’s the case, I have to wonder why it spent most of this season racing over a MILE less.

Gaelic Warrior certainly has enough speed and the way he was pulling in places at Cheltenham would suggest 2m / 2 and half to me is far enough
but Patrick said please, please, please run the Warrior over 3 and daddy may give in when Constitution Hill stays hudling Facile Vega and the Ballymore winner will think sod that and go Arkle and Turners leaving Warrior with the Browns
Con Hill goes chasing Warrior more chance going Turners

March 25, 2023 at 13:38 #1641349Also I wouldn’t worry too much at this stage
the above bet was £2.00 for a 30k payout, its a guessing game where a few pound is not missed but find the right jigsaw puzzle pieces and you can be in with a shot at goalGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

The Nice Guy went from 2 miles to 3 miles in the same season. Mullins will shuffle his pack as required.
