Aw thanks buckers…but can you transfer your allegiances to Monty please, I’ve got more on him and got him in a few multiples with State Man, Lossie and Ballyburn :-) Thanks awfully.

I’ve got only two surviving bets today from a long list of ante-post losers. Gentleman De Mee at 40-1 each way + Calico 33-1 each way

Added MILL GREEN EW @ 20/1 with extra places in the Pertemps. Solid if you can ignore who the trainer is.

Added PIED PIPER EW @ 16/1 in the County Hurdle as today’s free bet.

Probably be the last. Still refused to take the cash out on Gidleigh Park even though it beats the each way and stake element.

Used Bet Fred free bet on GALOPIN DES CHAMPS. Might top that up if earlier races go well.

    Summary

    Three winners

Golden Ace (bet placed this year)
Ballyburn (first bet last year, and two this year)
    Shakem Up’arry (this year)

Plus two bet boosts and free bet on State Man, Ballyburn, and Galopin Des Champs

    Each-Ways

    Mr Vango
    Lucky Place
    Rambo T
    Envoi Allen (last year)
    Where It All Began
    Pied Piper
    Corach Rambler (last year)
    Waterford Whispers

Envoi Allen and Waterford Whispers were the two that got away, one ground and one ride.

    Losers

Jeriko Du Reponet, JPR One, Matata, Gala Marceau, Latin Verse, Monty’s Star, Madara, Maskada, Quebecois, Argento Boy, Sharjah, Mill Green, Paisley Park, Dom Of Mary, Gidleigh Park, Johnnywho, Premier Magic, and Riviere D’Etel.

Several of those ran way below, but no real hard luck stories. The hard luck story of the week was prtobably Sir Gino not turning up.

After losing on the opening day, I won on the remaining three days. It goes to show you don’t need too many winners to turn a profit. A few good ones will suffice. These days going in early may not be the best approach.

It felt like a lot of shorties went in. 18 of the 27 races had a fav I’d consider quite short (3/1 or under) and there were 9 such winning favs from those 18 races but also Limerick Lace won at 3/1 as 2nd fav. So that is 10 winners at 3/1 or under. 9 winning favs from 27 overall tallies with the typical 1 in 3 you expect of a favourite winning most days of the week. No winning favs were actually above the 5/2 Grey Dawning was sent off as joint fav so that bit is interesting in itself, the favs above this point almost automatically appear quite vulnerable.

Its the odds on bit which is a bit more depressing. 7 odds on favs of which 5 won. The Cross Country fav wouldnt have been odds on so it is basically an odds on fav in every 4 races at the fetival which is where the uncompetitive argument comes in I guess. 2 got beat, 1 hard to predict the other was probably a bit hype factored in (Brighterdaysahead)
