Sick of the jumps season creeping up on me in mid-October every year, so had a decent look a month early (albeit more so on the British horses so far, since that’s a smaller sample with respect to this meeting).
Ahoy Senor strikes me as massively overpriced for the Brown Advisory To think he’d not even jumped a hurdle in public before the 1st of March last year. Form of that Ayr novice hurdle has been boosted by Itsnotyouitsme during the summer and I’d be a fan of Flower Of Scotland doing something next year. Then goes and wins at Aintree. Several underperformed, not claiming that form is better than anything Galopin Des Champs has done yet. And a lot of emphasis has to be placed on that “yet”. Caveat could be Lucinda trying to get him handicapped for the 2023 National but happy to take the chance. There’s a mix of 33s and 40s about.
Castlebawn West is on my radar for the Gold Cup. Won that Paddy Power off top weight. Concern obviously that he’s yet to race in 2021 and given the yard it’s hardly like we’ll be told if he’s injured for ages. Will hold off for now but you look through the market and half of these won’t be running (Shishkin & Allaho, for instance)
Shewearsitwell is 50/1 with Hills for the Champion Hurdle, 8 for the Mares. Think she’s an out and out 2 miler though. County Hurdle would also be an option, so not piling in but might include her in a couple of long range accas. Obviously has to prove she’s the same horse after an injury but think she’s something special. I can certainly leave 15/8 for Honeysuckle alone for now.
October 18, 2021 at 15:14 #1563891Hi Krypton Factor,
On one for the other threads someone posted about castlebawn West having a shin injury around Feb time. No update if hes fit and ready to race again that I’ve seen recently.
His performance to win that Leopardstown handicap was phenomenal and like you I had him on outside gold cup radar for 2021 and next year.
time will tell

Memories of the Charlie hall are still giving me nightmares for the fall but a mild form of arousal about what could be to come!
January 16, 2022 at 09:23 #1578304According to this article on the Sporting Life web-site he’s on course for the Ryanair – http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/news/ryanair-chase-preview-shan-blue-on-target/197645
Get on!January 16, 2022 at 09:28 #1578305Connections would be mental not to have a got at a big handicap pot with Shan Blue before moving on to the Grade 1’s. He must be 15-20lb well in off 148.
BUY THE SUN
January 16, 2022 at 09:37 #1578308If Shan Blue runs in the Ryanair, the bookmakers should open a market on how far from home Skelton commits him and asks for maximum effort. I will go for somewhere around those two fences at the top of the hill.
January 16, 2022 at 10:38 #1578314Cork ….on the first circuit lol
