Gold Cup – Delta Work @ 14/1November 2, 2019 at 13:23 #1473704That was impressive from envoi allen, some bookies going 3/1? Comeee onnnnnnnn, shocking
November 2, 2019 at 13:29 #1473705He looked great in the paddock- you would have picked him out even if you didn’t know who he was. It looked a very steadily run race that was nothing but a schooling canter and a bit of fun for him but he popped around very sweetly.
November 2, 2019 at 13:39 #1473707Envoi Allen won well but I suppose he had to at 1-4. I was really impressed with how he winged the second last. Looked an absolute natural but 3-1 for Cheltenham is crazy. He may not be much shorter on the day.
November 2, 2019 at 14:34 #1473713Not gonna have sleepless nights as a Santini and Lostintranslation backer after that Delta Work run.
November 4, 2019 at 11:48 #1473941Would you not be concerned that Delta Work has let the form down? He was properly spanked there by the Road to Respect and Clan Des Obeaux.
November 4, 2019 at 13:06 #1473946Elliott’s stable tour snippets have said that DW is “quite small and not the most robust“. He stood up to racing well last year including on faster than normal NH ground but it could be that something has gone awry since then.
Or it could just be that he was fitter and had more big- day experience than everything else last year, and that’s as close as he will ever get to Santini. He’s young but also small thus maybe limiting scope for improvement (see also: Defi de Seuil).
Or he is a gold cup winner in waiting, and just had an off day!

Not really. Delta was a good novice but I didn’t feel had the scope of the 2 that beat him in the RSA. I said so at the time as well. He could still pick up some races but not the Gold Cup I don’t think.

November 11, 2019 at 13:23 #1474590I’m a huge fan of Bristol De Mai and if NTD’s comments are right, he looks to be a
better horse this year. I know NTD is nearly always positive about his stable
before they run, but I think this could be his year. He didn’t do a lot wrong
last year winning the Betfair Chase, then looked to be trevelling really well
in the King George before he came down at the 9th. He jumped it well enough,
he just stumbled on landing and came down. In the Gold Cup, I thought with two
to go he looked the likliest winner, he just tired after the last, but was still
only 6L arift of a very good Al Boum Photo. I’m hoping the same route is being
planned this year, so with that in mind I’ve taken him at 200/1 with Betvictor
to take the Triple Crown. At those odds a few quid won’t go amiss.November 12, 2019 at 12:13 #1474650First update of mine for a while, and not much changed really since the spring….
