It was a good solid debut from West Approach, can’t knock it. Any idea what went wrong with him towards the end of last season?

Dunno; sportinglife stable tour remarks just quote Tizzard as saying, “Something wasn’t right the last two runs and we just gave him the summer off”. So I don’t know if they ever found out what.

I can’t back Petit Mouchoir or Yanworth for Cheltenham because neither are bred to be top class chasers. Two facile victories against inferior opposition mean they’ve gone to the head of the antepost markets and that suits me fine.

Finian’s Oscar, on the otherhand, must be on the shortlist for the JLT.

Interesting runners in the first at Fairyhouse, not least Sutton Manor, and The Storyteller, but I’m particularly interested in Livelovelaugh. I actually had him as a Champion Hurdle type, but he’s chasing now, and regardless of what he’s jumping over, I like him. No bet for me today at around 9-4, but I’d love to see him develop into a JLT or RSA type.

I’ve taken 33/1 about Presenting Perct for the four miler before he runs later today. I’ve no strong opinion on today’s race, but with it being over 3m 5f and connections form for lining one up for Cheltenham, they may well feel the four miler could be his best opportunity of adding to his Pertemps success.

Quite happy with Livelovelaugh yesterday, and though well beaten in the end by The Storyteller, I loved the way he travelled, and he should build on that. Looks perfect for The JLT, but very early days.

Did the same THM, i was going to ask the question on peoples views on him for the NH chase, but thought i might get put off him. So went with the gut feeling instead :good:

Handicaps out of the question, but now back in the frame for the RSA i think

Don’t know what it is but I just can’t take to death duty not matter how good he has been this season. Perhaps it was because of his underwhelming Cheltenham performance last year. Just have a feeling he will be found out again this time round

Got a bit lost in the buzz around Presenting Percy but did anyone else spot the not-off Mall Dini keeping on for a never-nearer fourth yesterday when friendless in the market?

Mall Dini is still a novice and would be eligible for the National Hunt Chase. He was a staying-on fifth in the Kim Muir off 143 last year…form that would probably be good enough in an average renewal of the 4 Miler…

    25/1 much too big imo.

I tend to agree. Is he just a soft ground bully? Over the JLT distance on goodish ground I would think Finians Oscar, for one, would have too much toe.

He ran in the wrong race last season but I’d agree that he just might lack something to beat both Finian’s Oscar and Willoughby Court.

Also, he’s by Shantou and his progeny often promise much as novice hurdlers but fail to progress as expected at 7 or 8 as chasers.

Funny you should say that LS, had a couple of spondooley’s on him for the National straight after the race.

    They must be tempted

A more likely route could be 4 miler / Irish National

I too would think he’s being aimed at the Irish national

What do people make of Bon Papa? He’s debut looked good and he’s always looked like a chaser in the making. A big strong looking horse. Has a high head carriage but is that such a bad thing?
