well show your picks for the above races it be interesting to see who was right 6-7 month before.
August 10, 2008 at 19:24 #176650Must admit it is a bit premature to be forecasting what will win the top races of the year before the season has even got into full swing.
August 10, 2008 at 19:58 #176652my bet is that all 4 races will be won by horses that we’ve never even heard of yet that are stood in a field in France with Paul Nicholls looking at them……having got a bit bored with the flat after a good start I was thinking about how the nh season just gets better and better for 6 months…and after that we have the Grand National to look forward to……..
August 10, 2008 at 23:44 #176685Just spent half an hour writing a mini-preview of all four races and then my ******* internet goes down so here’s a quick synopsis:
Champion Hurdle
Having won as a 5yo last year it’s hard to see past Katchit. Binocular is generally 2nd fav (jt-fav with some) but Captain Cee Bee beat him fair and square last year giving him 7lbs and at the 16/1 available about him, he would be my each-way bet at this stage.Champion Chase
If Master Minded gets there on the day he will be almost impossible to beat, given the authority of his victory last year. Tidal Bay’s price is being held up by the doubts about whether he will go for this race or step up in trip. Of those at bigger prices, I fancy Kruguyrova to run a big race and she is currently 33/1 and would be my idea of a each-way bet at this stage.World Hurdle
Whatever about 5yo winning races, I can’t have a 10yo winning one of the big ones. So with Inglis Drever out of the way, I’ll stick with Blazing Bailey in the hope that Choc Thornton doesn’t desert him this time around. I think the horse takes abit of getting to know and Thornton could be the difference this time aroundGold Cup
Denman should win this again without problem. This race will be run as a carbon copy of last years with the only difference being Neptune Collonges splitting Denman & Kauto Star. Denman to go on to Aintree and win the National too.Ryanair
Our Vic will go off too short and is another the wrong side of 10 so can’t have him. Silverburn looks the obvious one of last year’s novices to take advantage but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Voy Por Ustedes aimed at this race rather than the Champion Chase and he wouldn’t be without a chance either.Arkle Trophy
Ring The Boss has only 2 chase starts behind him, beaten a neck by Kruguyrova in the Kingmaker at Warwick in February before disappointing in the Arkle. However, Philip Hobbs had a dreadful Cheltenham last year and with the horse being put back over hurldes in his final 2 starts of last year to preserve his novice status, he wouldn’t be without a chance this time around.February 24, 2009 at 21:09 #212127"superkauto10" wrote: binocular, master minded, kasbah bliss and kauto star for me

I can’t have Denman this year – not at any price.

February 24, 2009 at 22:33 #212150Ditto!
February 24, 2009 at 23:07 #212158Binocular, Well Chief (heart ruling head), Punchestowns, Exotic Dancer
February 25, 2009 at 00:01 #212170Champ Hurdle.
A resolute stayer of 2 miles, wh oacts on good to soft- take your pick from Celestial Halo, Jered, Won In the Dark, Osana, Ashkazar, Muirhead, Whiteoak, Snap Tie or Catch Me. Cant decide but preference would be for Celestial Halo with a pacemaker.
Champ Chase
Master Minded penalty kick.
World Hurdle
Punchestowns
Gold Cup
Denman
February 25, 2009 at 01:08 #212185Champion hurdle, I hope Jered runs, i also like Celestial Halo.
Champion Ch, Twist Magic is the only horse who can get near the "Master"!
