According to the listings I’ve seen the programme starts at 1.40 pm today but they are showing the 1.35 race. I presume they are showing a recording of this race if that is so. Or does the programme start sooner than advertised
November 14, 2014 at 10:11 #495088I just wish they’d stop showing adverts for funerals between races; it#s beginning to depress me
November 14, 2014 at 10:14 #495090There’s a message there somewhere Moe
…or perhaps its a clue to the coverage
November 14, 2014 at 10:19 #495091The listings are wrong as the first race is at 1.50. Good to see Cheltenham back on TV though as ever I’ll watch more of Racing UK than Channel 4, at least they don’t show adverts for funerals!

I think I prefer the adverts for funerals to RUK’s own efforts in self-congratulation.
November 14, 2014 at 10:43 #495096Cheers Phil. I guess I should have checked this as well. I wondered why they had 45 minutes from the start of the last race until the end of the programme. I know this Cross Country race takes an age but I didn’t think they needed that long. Actually it’s only 25 minutes
November 14, 2014 at 11:45 #495103On funerals, I might have mentioned before that I live 100 yards from a cemetery at the gates of which a board contains several council documents.
One of these is a customer satisfaction survey of those using the ‘premises’. In all my time here it has never varied from 100%.
Posthumous or posthumour…you decide!

There is a football ground and two cemeteries at the bottom of my street. Some of the local boys have said that one of the two cemeteries would have been a much better site for the football pitch, because it is so flat.
A local taxi driver, Jimmy Neep, was conveying that to me one day and mentioned that the cemetery would be a good field for "dead-ball" specialists and he cackled away as he said it. In reply I stated that the cemetery pitch would make life a nightmare for referees because of all the penalty claims. "How do you figure that out then?" he said.
"Well, there’s always somebody going down in the box on that field Jim" was my response.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

November 15, 2014 at 11:53 #495263lol @ SC – Jamie Neep!
November 15, 2014 at 15:26 #495322How pathetic that C4 missed most of the 3.15 at Wetherby because they had to show yet more adverts, shows where their loyalty lies
November 15, 2014 at 15:41 #495326Absolutely unbelievable. The racing lasts about 25 minutes for a two and a half hour programme and they cut over 10% of the action out by showing bleeding adverts. C4 have shown the best advert yoday of how to lose viewers. Not only that they blame it on an injury for not showing the full race
November 15, 2014 at 17:01 #495354I was also seething about the fact they showed adverts rather than the advertised Wetherby 3.15. However, I’m now wondering if that race had clashed with the delayed 3pm, meaning it was just a recording and they just showed the closing stages to avoid Ever Fortune’s fatal injury earlier in the race
November 15, 2014 at 18:38 #495369Well said Phil …Ch 4 is an abomination , the sooner they go the better

No CH4 went to the advert long before the fatal injury to Ever Fortune.
To use that as a reason for only showing the final stages of the Wetherby is bollocks on CH4s part.
November 15, 2014 at 20:40 #495374Thanks. I wasn’t saying that it would have been ok not to show the whole race anyway, just less despicable than just giving priority to the ads – which is obviously what they did. Thanks for clarifying
November 15, 2014 at 20:49 #495376Unfortunately this is what can happen when you try to fit the racing in between the adverts!
Wetherby did wait for the Cheltenham races to finish so RUK could show all the races in full.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
