having broken and schooled horses for years i have noticed recently just how many are disunited at the gallop. ( they change up front but dont compensate behind ) they appear to run on 3 wheels this makes a great deal of importance on the run to the line. has anyone else noticed this
May 7, 2009 at 01:13 #226038Most of mine seem to run on 3 wheels (legs) sometimes on only 2.
I would like to help but I would not be able to tell. If I could it may help me.
May 7, 2009 at 01:49 #226046Watching races mainly from videos makes it difficult to even see that a horse has changed leads. The camera angles keep changing and those in the pack are obscured by the front runners. I did have a look at today’s Chester Cup stamina test, where it could be expected several would change lead to off-fore off the final bend to the finish but could not see any (with the pictures available) that had changed lead. Daraahem kept on the near fore lead all the way in the straight to the line and his rear leg action remained balanced with that. Have you any particular examples to look at?
May 7, 2009 at 17:41 #226141Tired horses do it most.. They even counter canter (leading with the near fore on a right hand bend) . They lose many lengths when they run unbalanced. I cant say if some are more prone to doing it than others tho.Watch the running styles and never bet those who run on 2 different tracks .those with their backends out of line with the front…. you need the rear engine to line up with the front for more effective power ( it makes a big difference)

May 11, 2009 at 15:04 #226903With the racing world going for quantity not quality these days, can one expect anything else?
look at the card at Redcar today, no quality what so ever.
