For the very last time I believe.

The fact the vastly improved Twice Over heads the market comes as no surprise.

Winner of this race last year he must have every chance of a repeat despite the possible participation of Cape Blanco.

Globe trotter Vision D’Etat with Olivier Peslier on board must be a danger’ The horse has a fantastic record having won 10 races from 14 and taken scalps like SMS’s Tartan Bearer along the way as well as finishing close up in Zarkava’s Arc.

If it comes up soft it will greatly increase Vision D’Etat’s chances.

An intersting entry is SMS’s Glass Harmonium once rated very closely with Harbinger by the great man. He looked like having a good season and justifying some of the faith they had him when he easily disposed of Redwood in his firt race of the season but has been a bit disappointing since. He hasn’t been seeen since running in the Price of Wales in June but was only beaten about 4 lengths by Byword and Twice Over.

It would be no shock to me if SMS patience brings out a lot of improvement in him and he wins this. He’s always promised to be a very good horse and he is SMS only entry which must tell you something.

Cape Blanco could repeat his amazing win in the Tatts version but after his excersions in the Arc I can’t see it plus there’s no guarantee he’ll be AOB’s main representative here and that’s where St Nicholas Abbey comes in.

Back on Sunday at the Curragh and said to be heading here if things go well.

I still believe he’s a bit special this horse and if he turns up he wins.

Sunday will tell us more and give me time to recoup losses if he doesn’t show as Ive been backing SNA at silly odds for quite some time.

St Nicholas Abbey with fingers crossed.

    Sub: Glass Harmonium.

St Nicholas Abbey may very well live up to his tall juvenile reputation, but after such an extended period of (relative) inactivity it has to be unlikely.

Even if he wins impressively on Sunday I’d be keen to both lay and place-lay him.

At this stage Vision D’Etat appeals as the likeliest winner. He travels well, goes on any ground, quickens and has proven himself more than capable in this country. Bet365’s 4/1 probably isn’t all that bad a price, but knowing how likely they are to overreact to an easy St Nicholas Abbey victory it may be worth waiting until next week.

The only thing about St Nicholas Abbey which gives me pause, is O’Brien’s record in the race. He hasn’t won it, I believe, though I don’t believe he targets it, does he? I think he does, the Irish Campion.

I still hope to have a little on him; and Gitano Hernando.

I would make Zenyatta the 2/1fav for this through collateral form,so to see Twice Over is the 4/1 fav i think there is a great opportunity for

    Debussy

to show that he really has improved out of all recognition and through Luca Cumani"s Summit Surge i believe he has! He won the Arlington Million the hard way and connections of Gio Ponti thought he only had to turn up. Gio Ponti all but won the Breeders Cup Classic but for the wonder mare with wings! Twice Over ran the race of his life to finish 3rd so at 4 times the price of the favourite,i believe Debussy is worth the risk.Obviously connections could be tempted with a tilt at the Breeders Cup Turf instead but i hope they can see Debussy has a realistic chance in this!I have taken the 16"s on the machine!

Sarafina to do a ‘Pride’ for me, and win this after running out of her skin in the Arc.

Were Sarafina to be aimed at the race then I’d happily side with her, reet, but it was my understanding that she wouldn’t be running again this season (and hence my preference for Vision D’Etat).

TWICE OVER wins coming away from the field. 3 lengths I’m predicting.

If Vision D’Etat runs he’s the one to beat. He handled good to fast ground extremely well in the Hong Kong Cup. I think he’s definitely one of the best 10f horses in the world and should beat Twice Over comfortably if right. At first I wasn’t blown away by his wins in Europe, but I know the HK Cup runner-up quite well and he blew him away. His record over 10f and 10.5f is impeccable with the only losses coming when first-up or on the Tapeta I believe.

Peslier describes Vision D’Etat as a bit of a lazy sort and says when he runs well he needs some urging midway through the race, and I think he definitely idles in front too instead of pulling away. The unexposed St Nicholas Abbey and smart Sarafina are the dangers for me. Don’t know enough about Gitano on turf.

I think Vision D’Etat will take all the beating here, arguably on of the best horses over 10f in the world, with his only defeats over 10f coming in a prep race for the Ganay(which he won) and then that farce of a race the Dubai World Cup!!

Aidan O’Brien said Cape Blanco won’t race again this season, I guess Fame And Glory will go here who does run again somewhere this season.

Aiden wants to rest him and see how he comes out of it Red he’s much more likely to be going for the Breeders Turf if anything. He ran his worst race of the season lasy year in this after his Arc excertions so it must be extremely doubtful he’ll turn up.

I would imagine Rip Van Winkle Fame and Glory and possibly St Nicholas Abbey will be sharing a flight as AOB will want to be represented at the meeting. Champion Stakes is minor in comparison.

If Redwood runs he’ll win it’s as simple as that.

Like Presto i’m a massive fan of Vision D’Etat.

I think he is the bet of the weekend, not Frankel like everyone else seems to think! Light campaign, 10f specialist, will go on any ground, been aimed at the race and has the best big race jockey around on his back. If you can get 5’s you should be filling your boots.

I’ve put a little on Fuisse now, as well as Gitano.

Rightly or wrongly, I feel Vision d’Etat may have done his dash, while the likes of F and G may be improving.
