Its futile to Lay Cirrus Des Aigles on that ground i think but couldnt have him either as a back. Farhh should go on Soft and is strong one that has great potential generally, also Hillstar, maybe not on Soft but this horse will get his wins i think. Classy put together physical animal. Cirrus Aigles on Frankel Soft ground form will win i think also vs Farhh, but if not that good than last year could not be enough vs Farhh or a good dangerous Hillstar.
Cheers The Observer!
October 18, 2013 at 20:45 #455311CDA obviously has a strong chance as does Farh, both high class, latter has a fantastic record fresh. I think the market has them both.
I would not give up on Ruler Of The World just yet, nothing gone for him at all on his last couple of races. He does not lack the pace to come back to 10f, overcame a steady pace showing more than enough speed in the Derby. Think he needs a bit underfoot as he will get tomorrow, Derby winner that does not lack pace coming back in trip in what should be a test, not seen best of him yet. Looks overpriced for me at 8/1ish.
October 18, 2013 at 21:19 #455316For those of you who might not be aware, the Racing Post mobile app offers money back as a free bet on all who finish 2nd in a CH4 race. That offer has been the only thing that has helped keep my nose in front in a Flat season where I’ve had more bets than for many years.
Using it, I’be had the max allowed (£25) on the fragile, talented and possibly best fresh Farhh.
October 18, 2013 at 21:54 #455328Connections of Farhh have said on more than one occasion that he would prefer softer conditions. Of course, a combination of soft ground and ten furlongs may not prove ideal, but it could well be that the lightly-raced 5YO may actually improve for it and it’s quite interesting that Godolphin have taken this option.
I’ve backed Farhh as a saver and agree with most of the above Bos. But you say it is "quite interesting Godolphin have taken this option". Why?
Wasn’t this the obvious target if Dawn Approach was going to run in the QEII? Makes sense for Godolphin to keep their best two horses apart.
Value Is EverythingOctober 19, 2013 at 11:20 #455429Seems a bit of sense has come into the market now, the silly odds on prices have disappeared for Cirrus Des Aigles, he has drifted out to 7/4 in a few places. I could cover my bet on Fahrr by taking that and no matter which one won I’d be ahead, but with the doubts I’ve already expressed about Cirrus I’m going to hold with my bet.
Is it just me, or is Main Sequence a silly price?
This is a horse that is almost never out of the frame, was 2nd in the Derby, a very unlucky 4th in the Juddmont at Longchamp, when no room in the final furlong and looked likely to come through and win. He followed that with a neck second in the Great Voltiguer at York before coming out this year and running a good race, going down by 1/2 length to Mukhadram, closing on him at the finish, over 10f in the Brigadier Gerrard at Sandown. His last run at Newbury last month in the Dubai Duty Free was a decent enough run, leading at the 10f mark before being pegged in the last furlong, still finish placed.Mukhadam is currently best priced 14-1, as low as 11-1 in a place, whilst Main Sequence is 80/1. Now I’m not saying Main Sequence is a likely winner, he’s not, but Cirrus and Fahrr apart, he has as good a shout at the third place as any others in my mind. So rather than doing what is the probably the smart thing by adding Cirrus to my bets, I’m going to have a small interest in Main Sequence. At 80/1 you don’t have to stake very much to make it of some interest.
Good luck
October 19, 2013 at 11:33 #455434Cant see Main Sequence doing anything – his best run was in a very poor Derby losing by was it 5Ls to a probably 120/121 Camelot – that puts Main Sequence at his best on c. 115 probably at least 7lbs off what is needed to win or even place in this race.
7/4 CDA now – bigger than I expected though it was obvious that the layers would look to lay him as his form this year is perhaps 7 or 8 lbs off what he achieved in this race last year. If he has regressed that much then he’ll probably get collared but if he has actually only lost 3-4lbs (this his target all year) then he can’t lose and 7-4 still a decent price – fascinating
October 19, 2013 at 12:37 #455448I think the bookies have dropped a rare rick in having CDA shorter than Faarh. I think Faarh should be jolly, so have backed him accordingly.

Backed Morandi ew at 20s but really if CDA shows any of his heavy ground form, Faarh and the rest are toast!!

October 19, 2013 at 15:18 #455481YEEHAH !!!!!!!….what more can I say
October 19, 2013 at 15:19 #455482Well done those on Farhh. Happy with that effort from Ruler Of The World! Thought he may run them down final furlong stamina and all that.
Deserved group 1 1 mile 1/2 result for Farhh. Ran some crackers at the distance last year. What a fresh record!!!

OH never mind my opinions, openly admit they are rarely right.

Lets be honest there was a fag paper in that. Winner had the race to suit and took advantage. Great race.
October 19, 2013 at 17:04 #455498Jock won the race imo
October 19, 2013 at 18:59 #455512At least that form is reliable, Cirrus Des Aigles was today same like last year, the way the horse moved before was on his top level.
In general this was a very strong field and credit to Farhh despite being keen before and in the start of the race to bring that home. Expect a +10% possible from him if fully relaxed. In my view the strongest Soft Group Race over that distance of the whole season.
Imo the Arc, Ascot Novellist race and this one the ones to take out from this season.October 19, 2013 at 23:42 #455554Ballydoyle should take a look at this race and understand the art of pacemaking. A great team effort, but crucially it did not take the shine off the eventual winner – the best horse won, in my opinion.
Farhh had never encountered such favourable conditions and, despite being keen enough early on, firmly established himself a horse of immense quality. He won a Group One over eight and ten furlongs, respectively, demonstrating consistency in the face of fragility, often competing under conditions that didn’t suit.
Farhh and Cirrus Des Aigles fight out a finish with the Derby winner, the trio pulling six lengths clear. Sorry, but I can’t help but remember how Frankel treated both with such contempt.
