Ah come on, Authorized and Motivator both won the RP Trophy.

And surely they’d send Fame And Glory to the Classic and Mastercraftsman here if they thought Fame And Glory was superior to MCM?

I don’t know what sort of condition Sariska is carrying at the moment, but if she turns up, it would suggest that she’s at least up for it.

She’s only had three real races this year (you can’t count her pipe opener and the piece of work in Ireland) and boasts the best form in the book with FAG’s recent conquerer, Dar Re Mi. She’s lightly raced and has had a rest – what more could she need in her favour? Rain would be an added bonus, I guess….

I don’t think it is a question of which is better. It is more like the need for Group One status for Fame and Glory(Montjeu) as a three y.o.over the shorter distance.see Rip van Winkle(Galileo).Perhaps they planned to send F&G to the BC but he did not run up to expectations in the Arc.Mastercraftsman had a run at Dundalk last week and there was no need to mess with his preparation for the BC.Hence F&G was the obvious choice to run in a poor Champions Stakes.Coolmore live by the dictum"Let the record show…"Incidentally I don’t believe that either Galileo or Montjeu play very well in the States.

Not the strongest race so a good opportunity for F&G to grab another Group 1 and im sure grand ducal and set sail will set the race up for him. I think he will come back as a 4 year old and try to do a Duke of Marmalade with him then send him to stud.

Not if the present crop of 2yo’s turn out as good as this years 3yo’s.

F&G looks like a good thing but I’ll still swerve him. Looking thru the last ten years O’Brien has very few grp.1 winners after the first weekend in October and then usually they are 2yo’s. The Ballydoyle campaign is geared to winning big races from May to the first week of October. After that it seems to me their horses run strictly because they are available and less because things have been planned with the same meticulous foresight as earlier in the year. Not so sure that F&G has enough pace for ten furlongs although this is surely not the greatest renewal.

Alpine Rose at 20/1 strikes me as a rocket type of bet. Cant see why she is anywhere near that price and some very loose formlines thru Dar Re Mi to F&G convince me even less that she should be that big. Her 2nd to Spanish Moon is probably underrated and I think this 10 furlongs at Newmarket will be her thing where stamina coming up the hill wont be a problem but she’ll also have the pace to stay chilly. I would expect ground conditions will be more suitable here than in the Opera and Soumi getting the call makes this a very good bet for me.

I swear I will eat a bowl of Menudo if Fame and Glory is beaten on Saturday. This is just his third race since his summer break. He was eased up in the Arc so he should be OK.

Can’t have been many Champion Stakes won by horses given such stamina tests as 2yo’s?
Whatever happens, I’d bet good money he doesn’t live up to his exalted rating, particularly on the likely fast ground.

Brendan says he does not have the pace and reet says he does not have the stamina. Gee what a lousy horse. Fancy him winning the Irish derby.Fancy him winning the Champion Stakes.I do.

You are absolutely right Reef. My apology. Still I am not exactly sure I understand your post on F%G. Sometimes I make outrageous mistakes because I need the attention! So she says.

Has to be never on sunday for me. Cant really have Fame And Glory for this, and especially at his price, honestly dont think he’ll win. 8/1 with ladbrokes on Never On Sunday is pretty decent IMO.

Looking at this race immediately you think Fame and Glory will win but after two hard races I wouldn’t risk it. His biggest asset is he travels well and gets there easy but he lacks the turn of foot that real high class animals do.

Sariska put up one of the best perfomances seen this season along with that of Fame and Glory’s and then flopped behind Dar Ra Mei. She never looked herself that day, the buzz just wasn’t there on the fast ground. She missed the Arc as MB thought the ground was too fast? Apparantly better than ever but I don’t know what MB thinks she’s going to encounter tomorrow but it won’t be much ifferentto what the ground inthe Arc was unlss the’s a change in the weather.

You could fancy either and end up the wrong one so Ive decided to give them both a miss

Mawatheeq’s form surely isn’t good enough, Pipedreamer will go close but a furlong less would be better.

Twice Over who I once said should be gelded entered for he Triumph Hurdle is a horse I really haven’t had much time the past. He omes there always going well in his races but ends up looking like he’s a AOB pacemaker just her to be shot at.

I’m hoping the two bad racec our Henry won with him recently will have boosted his confidence or fool him into thinking he’s the boss…..whatever!……..Twice Over ew for me

It still amazes me now how easily Fame and Glory went past Mastercraftsman in the Irish Champion stakes, and the horse that swept past them both was decent too!!! Fame and Glory is as close to a certainty in TAPK"s world as it gets!Never saw it coming, running him here!Mastercraftsman would have walked it!

Would not be surprised to see a shock result. The front two are plenty short enough given that they could find themselves outpaced on ground quicker than ideal. Mawatheeq should cope with the ground but is a shocking price having won a handicap and then seemingly improved for a step up in trip when taking a weak Group 3.

In the hope he has benefitted from a couple of confidence boosters I think each-way Twice Over might represent a little value. The quicker the ground the better his chance.

Fame And Glory is value @ 6/4. Interesting that Mick Kinane said after the Arc that he was tracking FAG but he didn’t seem to be that happy. Maybe the hustle and bustle of the Arc got to him. Can’t see what will beat him tomorrow
