I think Zacinto is the main player here, but 5/2 compared to the 9/1 for Never on Sunday has swayed me. Rouget won this race a couple of years back, and this horse ran well at Ascot this season in the Prince of Wales it may have been. Sariskas fight against Da Ri Me dosen’t look bad form now considering how DRM ran in France on two separate occasions, and will have Fallon on board so i wouldn’t be too worried if they never got a decent bit of cut. Mawatheeq looks a good sort but nobody know if it’s running yet, so i’d imagine the 10’s on it would fall quick fast if he was declared as he’s obviously very decent.
October 8, 2009 at 04:05 #252386With cut, Sariska will be mighty hard to topple.
I backed Aqlaam for this a few weeks ago, thinking he’d run well enough in the QEII to warrant a place in the field. He totally misfired and it stands as the biggest, most pathetic misuse of a fiver ever
October 8, 2009 at 13:21 #252412I’m not so sure about all this talk of cut. It would help if the other can’t act on the ground i suppose. If the talk of cut is because of the race at the Curragh, then i’d put a line through that race. It’s a contender for the most over hyped performance of the season award along with F&G. I think Zaccinto is still the one to beat.
October 10, 2009 at 15:15 #252732Zacinto isn’t bred to stay 10f and Sariska has been on the go since April, not a good sign for a filly. The French horse is a great price at the moment.
October 10, 2009 at 22:18 #252761Mawatheeq is being supplemented. I can see those 7’s being pushed into 7/2.
October 11, 2009 at 13:11 #252804I put Mawatheeq on at 7/1 aswell. Good job i did because not long after it Zaccinto was pulled out because they’re pushing him towards the BC mile.
Never on Sunday 9/1
Mawatheeq 7/1That’s it as far as this race goes.
October 11, 2009 at 19:47 #252853Fame And Glory confirmed runner by O’Brien even though bookmakers haven’t piced him up.
They should be more on the ball.
October 11, 2009 at 21:30 #252867Damn i didn’t see that one coming. PP have him 11/10. He’s gonnae throw in a pace maker aswell. If none of the ones i backed win, then i hope Sariska does.
October 11, 2009 at 21:42 #252872One last attempt by Ballydoyle to snag a Group One with him over 10 furlongs before whisking him off to stud?
Took one look at the race of clearly fancied their chances.
Does anyone know if they plan to race him next year? If they haven’t decided yet, this race could do it for them.
October 11, 2009 at 22:09 #252876Irish Racing broke the news and i then hoovered up 200 quids worth between 6.6 and 4.0. It took almost 45 mins for a major news outlets to get hold of it.
I am sitting pretty now…probaly go off odds on as it is a desperate desperate Group 1
October 11, 2009 at 22:16 #252877Lucky git that you are Wallace !
Bos i’ve no idea if the horse will return at 4. They will bring Age of Aquarius back though.
I thought Mawatheeq was good at 8s, now he’s been jacked up to 10s with PP because F&g will be runnin.
You have to wonder about O’Brien….not a peep until Zacinto was removed the shyte bag !
October 11, 2009 at 22:48 #252879Would be very surprised if Fame And Glory’s sent to stud. No-one’s gonna go for him unless they price him at a ridiculously low fee, and then there won’t be any point in having him at stud.
Anyway, don’t think he’ll be winning the Champion Stakes. Montjeu’s progeny just aren’t fast enough. Agree 100% that Never On Sunday is an infinitely better bet.

God bless whoever was quick off the ball on irishracing.com. Half the country got on at very generous odds!
October 12, 2009 at 06:25 #252937The statistics are heavily against Fame And Glory and I don’t think he has the class to defy them either.
Montjeu progeny boast only one 3YO+ Group 1 over 10 furlongs (Authorized) – they rarely compete at the distance. Hurricane Run was turned over in this race as favourite I believe? Albeit against a super mare in Pride.
Furthermore, Coolmore have a very poor record of 3YOs in Group 1 races between October and December. Something like 5 wins from 81 attempts?
The French don’t take their entries in British Group 1 races very lightly. Even if the Rouget stable has gone off the boil by now, he could still claim what is typically a weak Group 1.
Never On Sunday from Twice Over.
October 12, 2009 at 07:00 #252938Authorized’s ’10f’ Group 1 was over 10 1/2f in the Juddmonte, and he beat Dylan Thomas, a horse who never won a 10f Group 1 apart from the Irish Champion. Couldn’t even beat Notnowcato over 10 1/2f.
Montjeu’s progeny do not have enough speed to win a Group 1 over 10f.
October 12, 2009 at 13:45 #252965Notnowcato was still a better horse than Never On Sunday or Twicce over and it would pay to look to Mawaatheeq as a good outside bet
October 12, 2009 at 14:29 #252976Take Sea The Stars out of the Irish Champion and Fame And Glory would’ve won a ten furlong group one beating Mastercraftsman who is a better horse than anything in this field. Its a very poor group one and I wouldn’t let the fact that Fame And Glory is by Montjeu put me off. Furthermore he has already won a group one over ten furlongs albeit as a two year old.
