If Sizing Europe is over his injury he’s at least half a stone better than everything else over two miles. I wouldn’t be backing anything else.

He probably is marginally the best horse in the race, though I can’t see a piece of form that suggests he’s half a stone ahead of the rest. Stop the Champion Hurdle 2 out, Sublimity is going pretty well himself!

AIG form. I got him at 168+ for that. Katchit’s Champion Hurdle form to around 163. There is 5lbs ignoring the plus.

Its easy to forget that form given the Champion Hurdle, its also easy to give horses an inflated rating because they ran in the Champion hurdle. This years Champion Hurdle was extremely poor IMO and I expect Sizing Europe to put the record straight soon enough.

Your figures are BS Flash the Champion Hurdle is a ton harder to win than a poxy AIG and that is what it was…….why do you need ratings to decide which horse is best…………you think SE is best then end of story……putting a figure on him and ramming down people throats wont help him win……………..I really hate it when people come on here and say my ratings make so and so best………….I want to know why people think a horse is best and not just because they put a number next to a horse.

You and any other ratings expert should concentrate on the reason you think one horse will win and why another will lose…..ratings don’t mean sh1t if the going changes or there is no pace setter…….one should not put any emphasis on ratings but look at each race in it’s entirety and try and work out who’s going to make it will it be a strong pace. slow pace…whatever and then work out who it will suit…….as I say ratings are for the birds…….example…..what was the ground like when you made them up……which horse did it suit best……..EG Kauto or Denman……..simple things like that can throw ratings out a mile………I hate the fooking useless things personally

Ratings give you a guide to a level of form thats all Fist they are not be all and end all. I find them a useful guide others may not use them at all each to their own.

The Champion hurdle is a race just like any other, take away the title of it and it becomes another race. My ratings tell me that that was a poor Champion hurdle, simple as that they don’t tell me what is / isn’t going to win another race. You say ratings are useless Fist, I agree they are if you use them as you seem to think people use them. Because a horse runs to 170 it doesn’t mean they will run to 170 again next time out. You use them in context not as an exact science.

Flash no disrespect meant but you couldn’t be further away from the truth if your tried.

I had a discussion with Jonjo about the Champion Hurdle a while back and he told me to even run in the Champion Hurdle a horse has to be 110% fit.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out what he means and why.

Take Katchit for example……..hoiw fit was he when he ran at Newcastle or against Osana…I shouldn’t have to ask that or answer it mate.

Horses unlike other hurdle races are tuned to the minute at Cheltenham……every last ounce of condition is gone and they are ready to run for their lives if the trainer has done his job……..Good flat horses have run in the CH and can’t keep up with the pace they go so fast.

Lincoln runner up Blythe Knight couldn’t get ablow in eg…..Fine Sun was aprolific winner on the flat and was tailed off after a mile……..The normal CH is no ordinary hurdle race by any stretch of the imagination……..I say normal because you do get bad CH like Sublimity’s but very seldom

Fist I don’t disagree that horses are 100% when running in the Champion hurdle. I don’t use 110% because 110% doesn’t exist where that saying came from I’ll never know.

It doesn’t mean that horses are undercooked all year round though mate. Was Kauto undercooked when he won the King George only right for the Gold Cup? Was Tidal Bay undercooked all year? Was Inglis Drever?

Blythe Knight over hurdles isn’t Champion Hurdle class its as simple as that as for Fine Sun who is he, never heard of him?

I know you think Katchit improved to win the Champion Hurdle and he has but only by a few pounds if you believe the runs of Osana and Punjabi.

Sublimity’s Champion Hurdle was a poor one but so was Katchit’s.

I’m afraid we’ll have to agree to disagree mate.

PS! As for Jonjo, when he learns that Wichita Lineman isn’t a 2 1/2 miler I may actually listen to him. I don’t mean to be rude to him but he isn’t my favourite trainer by a long way.

SE is clearly a good horse, but there is no clear evidence to say he’s a great horse. He’s won two good races ever and neither form is unquestionable. When he hacks up against a top class field (or even wins by a neck) then it would be fair to put him pounds ahead of the rest, but on known form he isnt.
