Tickled Ferny Hollow at 25s before today’s race , fragile but very talented
December 8, 2024 at 11:03 #1714999If he can stay sound he can surely be up there with the best HDLG, he’s got some engine and can jump.
I’ve got my ews on Quilixios and Hunters Yarn, was happy enough with Quilixios’ run yesterday, he jumped very nicely.
December 8, 2024 at 20:32 #1715028Let’s hope at least 3 of the 4 (Jonbon, Energumene, El Fabiolo and Geallic Warrior) get here 100% sound.
December 10, 2024 at 09:54 #1715163I can see el fabiolo going for the Ryanair the way Willie was speaking.
December 12, 2024 at 21:17 #1715276Jonbon would be the safe bet at this stage
as Mullins will be playing bingo with his lotCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 15, 2024 at 19:43 #1715532I’ve taken Boothill at 100-1 ew. I’ve bet him often in the past, and more often than not he ends up getting withdrawn, but I just can’t help myself
January 3, 2025 at 08:32 #1717380Despite him sucking over Christmas, 5s looks way too big for Gaelic Warrior.

So don't run, just like the others always do
January 3, 2025 at 21:25 #1717429Thanks for that FLD, I hadn’t realised Gaelic Warrior had gone out that much. I wasn’t able to take the “5/1” but had some 5.9 on the machine. Now 9/2 is the very best in the village (Bet365 only) and 4.8 on the blue button.
Value Is EverythingJanuary 18, 2025 at 15:43 #1718335Went back in on Quilixios at 40s ew after his form was franked today.
February 19, 2025 at 14:10 #1720881Energumene at 8-1 has got to be worth a bet here
February 19, 2025 at 20:19 #1720901Il Est Francais 22/1 (antepost from early Jan)
February 25, 2025 at 10:07 #1721354Was just looking at the short price acca and i cant believe Jonbon is 8/11. Whilst he has the best form on offer this season, there’s a bit of depth to this race with plenty of good horses still engaged. Many have been bang out of form or have other engagements but between El Fabio, Gaelic Warrior, Energuemene, Marine Nationale etc there is plenty of grade 1 form and Cheltenham form on offer. One of that lot could easily surpass their recent form on the day.
Il est Francais could be dangerous but at 9/1 Solness looks overpriced. You do actually need to overlook the fact that Jonbon thumped him at Sandown but he looks vastly improved on his last two performances.
February 25, 2025 at 10:17 #1721355Reports suggest Il Est Francais is more likely to go Ryanair, sadly. Not unexpected though.
Looks like my 22/1 antepost will be banished to the bin
February 26, 2025 at 00:09 #1721391I originally backed Gaelic Warrior for this, but Jonbon impressed me at Ascot so backed him at around 6/4… And didn’t like the Gaelic Warrior vibes going into the Dublin Chase, so laid him back. Looking at the weather forecast; doubt it’ll be soft enough for GW to be effective at 2m… And has jumped right-handed too.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 26, 2025 at 00:57 #1721393Said a few times tail end last season, and also this season, that I had high hopes for Solness. I then completely missed him for both his big wins. Unbelievable. Definite one of lowlights of the season for me.
I’m never too interested in The Champion Chase, but for interest, I’ll take the 9’s just now
Solness 9’s NRNB

I can believe it. The best in Ireland has been Solness and Jonbon has already beaten him. Not too concerned about Cheltenham either, looking at the 2024 Champion Chase result it was there for the taking for Jonbon if the stable wasn’t sick and then the question about Cheltenham suitability wouldn’t be talked about. Gaelic Warrior may have been a threat ‘on a going day in the rain’ but it won’t be soft enough next week.

Looks, all but confirmed now, from today’s Racing Post. Hey-ho.
