Ham defi beat UDS on the bit , watch the race Barry went by him without asking a question , for me there’s to many questions about the 2nd fav , I’m more worried about dynamite dollars but I played him a few weeks back so hopefully the bases are covered
March 11, 2020 at 08:54 #1485408Defi is very very solid and can win. I do think his rating is inflated though. Un de Sceaux is 12 and performed well below song last day if the prsence of Marracuja in 3rd is anything to judge by.
Chacun is probably a better horse IMO. Dynamite Dollars is the one who should be backed at the odds. He achieved some very good things at 5 and you know how these animals can improve from then.

March 11, 2020 at 09:58 #1485416I’ve had a few good wins on Defi’ but I don’t see why he should be favourite over Chacun. Latter doesn’t have the Cheltenham experience but did beat Defi in Ireland last year… and with more scope for improvement. Not convinced the run of the race will help Defi (a hold up horse) either. The others don’t stand much chance of beating these two in a truly run affair. So unless Chacun goes on at a good pace (and why should he make it easy for Defi) so this may prove tactical. Chacun racing more prominently could be in a better posi’ for when the pace quickens. Defi has come back to 2m from the intermediate trip and imo doesn’t have as much speed as Chacun. Because of this – despite Defi’s excellent Cheltenham record (which is worth a lot) I’d have Chacun as marginal favourite and have backed him at 1.6/1…
Dynamite Dollars ran well against Altior in the Game Spirit and may be able to progress again; but proximity to the great horse was imo flattering (Altior not at his best). So DD has a lot of improvement to make. Politologue has reportedly had a lot of problems and may do better at Aintree. Bun Doran not good enough.
…If I’m right about pace in the race 20/1+ looks worth a small wager on Sceau Royal. Travels with ease through races and might look as though he’s a real threat at some stage. A pre-race bet to lay in running for profit?

He can be a bit of mule on that ground though. If it drys up sufficiently, who knows.

March 11, 2020 at 11:13 #1485428Gutted for you guys who were on at massive prices antepost

March 11, 2020 at 11:23 #1485434Is a slight worry, SHL; Sceau Royal doesn’t act on very very soft/heavy. However, they didn’t seem to be finishing dog tired yesterday. Bound to have dried a little from the officially Soft, heavy in places and… Last year it was soft (times back it up) and he travelled well and finished third to Altior (1 3/4 behind second placed Politologue). ie running at least as well in defeat as has for any victory on good-soft or good.
Do agree off a fast pace on soft ground it blunts his speed (not as effective in those circumstances). However – in a slower run race on soft like this race looks likely to be – soft ground should imo not be a problem.
Value Is EverythingMarch 11, 2020 at 12:04 #1485447Well its gone from being the race of the festival to a bit of a non event!!
It is a shame but hey ho that’s racing. On a different point I think HDB should be gutted he took A Plus Tard out of this as he would have had a serious chance of winning and would probably have finished second at worst!
March 11, 2020 at 13:04 #1485463Losing both my AP bets in the space of 2 days is gutting but oh well.
No reason HDB he should be gutted. He could easily have come second to Defi, and he has a great chance in the Ryanair in my opinion.
March 11, 2020 at 13:10 #1485464From a racecpoint of view it’s disappointing , from a betting point of view I’ve a number of tickets with 7/2/4-1 defi and 2 with dynamite dollars at 20-1 …..it’s the stuff of Cheltenham dreams
March 11, 2020 at 15:14 #1485513This race has cut up badly, but still nervous for my Ante Post bet here.

But you can give them to the birds and bees.March 11, 2020 at 15:19 #1485517Contented myself with Sceau Royal 3-1 without Defi.
March 11, 2020 at 15:28 #1485518Not one to get involved in, if you don’t already have an Ante Post bet, in my opinion. So well done and best of luck Green hope he comes second to the fav.

Wd if you found that one.March 11, 2020 at 15:39 #1485520Going from cocky to defeated in 3 fences ….that’s spoiled a good day so far for me …onwards and upwards
March 11, 2020 at 15:39 #1485521WD anyone on- VtC was, I think. My daughter picked him beforehand (she’s not a shrewd tipster she is just susceptible to a pretty grey). She is bashing my arm announcing “He winned! He winned!”.
