Maybe you need to give your radar a service
December 12, 2022 at 05:21 #1626650It’s pretty hard to knock him , let’s be honest Shiskin hasnt my been the same since there race , it seems not to have left a mark on him , Edwardstone may get nearer but I can’t see him beating him
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 12, 2022 at 05:33 #1626651I don’t think this looks a penalty kick for Energumene. He’s rated 176 yet Edwardstone beat a 170 horse a long way at level weights and only rated 170 himself which doesn’t make sense to me.
This could be one of the best races of the festival if both hold their form between now and then.
December 12, 2022 at 08:45 #1626654Ff91, I’d be the the first to admit that my radar intentionally scans over Irish racing unless it’s a big meeting. The day to day stuff I can’t bare. Usually because of that doughnut doing the commentary who really needs packing off to the care home now.
For what it’s worth, I see Energumene being comfortably turned over by Edwardstone simply on account of how it jumped yesterday.
December 12, 2022 at 09:55 #1626655I think Energumene jumped pretty efficiently last year.
It was his first run so a tiny bit rusty at a few fences, should improve for that
Edwardstone will have to be switched on to not giving Energumene too much rope but careful not to be to close either or may lose his finishing kick. Tactically fascinating for me and we are still 4 months away…

December 12, 2022 at 10:11 #1626657Energumene’s jumping was very good most of the race? 1 or 2 not perfect, but seriously?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 12, 2022 at 10:55 #1626663Did Mullins say he wasn’t overly happy with him?

December 12, 2022 at 11:32 #1626664As oft stated, being the proud owner of a form book and a pair of functioning eyes I really don’t care what trainers and jockeys say about pretty much anything.
I think Energumene needs to be favourite, but I think Edwardstone will pose a bigger threat than the betting suggests and I’m also very happy with my 16/1.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"December 12, 2022 at 14:27 #1626670He didn’t come out and say “the horse ran like a camel and jumped like a fridge” Nathan, no. But he wasn’t exactly gushing about him either.
December 12, 2022 at 15:06 #1626671And there was me studying form books instead of developing a “gushometer” to measure the level of a trainer’s enthusiasm.
Energumene started his career winning a Point at my local Larkhill – he was on Chezza’s radar forever after.

Every trainer likes to big up their horse
I do find it more interesting if they are cold about oneGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
December 12, 2022 at 15:37 #1626675Was Mullins cold about him? In his interview on RTV, he said the horse seemed distracted by something going out onto the second circuit and was on the wrong leg for a while but was fine as soon as he jumped the next fence.
December 12, 2022 at 16:05 #1626677He said he’s not looking forward to taking Edwardstone on. It’s not exactly glowing praise of his own horse is it.
December 12, 2022 at 17:28 #1626683It was a light hearted turn of phrase.
Townend said he would not swap Energumene for Edwardstone.
I backed Edwardstone after the last festival and am happy with the price I have in what looks like a two horse race. But if Energumene stays sound then he is still the one to beat.
December 12, 2022 at 17:55 #1626687Am never surprised at the bookies shortening ones like him, but am surprised that he’s had so much general praise. He dragged his back legs through at least two fences and was sloppy at two or three more. If he jumps like that against Edwardstone, no matter the race, he won’t win.
December 12, 2022 at 18:21 #1626689I’d imagine he only be 80% fit , he was schooling yesterday , popped around as he wanted , no need to look to hard
