I like REDVERS at 11/1 runs well at Ascot he like fast pace in race too can be a bit strange should won 7f at Ascot but idile badly.
October 1, 2014 at 20:07 #491182The last 10 winners were aged 3yo-6yo.
The last 8 winners had already won a Class 2 handicap.
6 of the last 7 winners had an OR in the range 99-105.There are 6 horses that fall into all of the above categories…
Heaven´s Guest
Blaine
Almargo
Eastern Impact
Grey Mirage
Highland AcclaimSome of the previous winners had run well in the Ayr Gold Cup…
2013 Heaven’s Guest 4th (in Ayr Gold Cup)
2012 Skilful did not compete
2011 Pastoral Player 5th
2010 Redford Won
2009 Advanced 8thAyr Gold Cup positions for those following the trends above…
Heaven´s Guest 4th
Blaine 3rd
Almargo did not race
Eastern Impact last of 27
Grey Mirage did not race
Highland Acclaim 9thMy selection: Grey Mirage, 3 lengths 4th behind Captain Cat last time out, who went on to win the Sovereign Stakes (Group 3) quite cosily. 2nd, 3rd and 5th in that race all went close in their next race. Currently 10s in a place, 9s in a few places and generally 8/1 elsewhere.
Good luck !

Timeform are tipping American Hope but I am struggling to get excited about him at 6/1. He hasn’t won at the trip in 3 attempts and his sole win was in an 8 grand Irish all-weather contest. Not for me.
Highland Acclaim is their next best and he has more appeal with the stable having a great year but again he hasn’t won at this intermediate distance between sprinting and miling. At the odds I’ll pass.
Prince’s Trust was tipped by Gary Nutting on ATR when he was 10/1 fav and he’s got to be happy with those odds. The horse hosed in after a very long break but we have all seen those types "Bounce" on their next start and the form of the race he won hasn’t worked out. He’s also up 12lbs in a tougher race now and I’ll leave him at as low as 4/1.
I am going to row in with the Timeform 2 star horse Grey Mirage as well. You can’t argue he’s well handicapped and there’s the chance he is better on the all weather but he’s consistent and comes in fresh after running behind Captain Cat last time. He’s a distance winner and perhaps worth remembering he went off favourite for the race won by Captain Cat. He’s got a high draw in 16 but at 16/1 he is my idea of an each way bet, having not been out of the first 4 in his last six runs.
Grey Mirage each-way 16/1
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 3, 2014 at 21:25 #491305So about 8:45 Friday night I discover that Tom Segal has selected Chil The Kite at 18/1 with Corals and 16/1 with Bet365. Now at the same time I checked on Oddschecker and Corals are doing 11/1 and Bet365 12/1. Can someone tell me when these prices are available? If ever? It CANNOT be that they are solely being backed due to the ‘pricewise factor’ at 9 o’clock at night? When was 18/1 with Coral’s ever available? Perhaps Wednesday when the race was first priced up but it should say that if it’s the case and as it is I believe it’s just a matter of him letting the Racing Post know his selections Friday afternoon so that the bookies can shorten up the prices before a bet has been placed there and then. From now until the off, when will I see 18/1? Thanks for any thoughts.
On the race, I quite fancy Sirius Prospect to go close at 25/1.
October 4, 2014 at 08:24 #491354Hi Charles,
unfortunately 18/1 does show on Corals "price history" (on 4th October, i.e. today) for Chil The Kite, flanked on either side by 11/1, so either it was genuinely there for a short while or else someone is "spinning" this glitch to their advantage. The reason I say that is because it is hard to believe that a horse at 11/1 would go out to 18/1 instead of 12/1, 14/1 or 16/1 and then to suddenly come back in to 11/1 again also seems a bit strange. Perhaps a coder at Corals is on the payroll or maybe it was a genuine error on their part? There are instances of 16/1 at Bet365, BoyleSports, BetVictor and Stan James but they were on Friday. To get the price history, there is a small icon (picture) of a chart just to the left of the colours (on the Oddschecker page for the race). Apologies if you already know this, I can’t tell from your post. Only today shows the actual times that odds were available and here are the times + odds for Corals…
00:06 11/1
08:31 18/1
08:38 11/1For Bet365…
00:06 12/1
08:29 16/1
08:41 12/1I hope this helps and good luck with Sirius Prospect
October 4, 2014 at 10:50 #491382… Currently 10s in a place, 9s in a few places and generally 8/1 elsewhere.
Good luck !
Must have been thinking of another horse when writing that (above).
Grey Mirage now generally 20/1 easing out from 16/1 during the morning.
Let’s hope that we picked right one Steve
October 4, 2014 at 12:44 #491407Well Rich, It’s p155ing down rain at Ascot as we speak and soft ground is expected. Grey Mirage has won on heavy so I’m hopeful he’ll cope better than some of the field. I’ve topped up at 20/1 anyway.
The Fav seems weak in the betting at the moment.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 4, 2014 at 13:30 #491424I’ll stick by Intransigent
@ 25’s for this, and take Blaine @ 16’s as my second pick.GL all
October 4, 2014 at 15:00 #491440A feeble effort from Grey Mirage who got cut across at the start, travelled OK but went out like a light.
Still it was one of those races for a couple of quid each-way for a bit of fun and plenty much more fancied ones were never in with a shout. A typical back end bookies benefit and ATR’s Gary had "Nutting Coming" with Princes Trust

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 4, 2014 at 15:04 #491441Looks like Prince’s Trust finished lame. His performance certainly was.
Well done VTC

That is always the worry with a horse who was off a long time and then wins well. Will the problem that kept them off the track resurface?
Well done Bobby, another 25-1 winner for you. Just another Saturday.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

yes, very true. with this kind of race small "fun" stakes has to be the way as the odds are bigger and therefore the returns greater as long as you pick the winner of course

Keeping it sensible means there is always next week

It’s been going on for years. Apparently Tom is in the privileged position in knowing what price a horse is going to be the next day even if at the time the said horse is 11/1 Tom gets offered the fake morning price. Wish we could all compare evening and morning prices the night before.

No wonder he gets the value
