There are good reasons for going for a few a lot shorter in the market,
but having changed trainers a couple of times it’s done a fair bit of racing
for a 7 year old so it might sound a bit odd to say he’s improving, but that’s
what I reckon. It could be that Pipe has found the trick to Bashfull Boy, but
in any case he looked fairly impressive with his 2 1m 6f races IN May an June,
off marks of 80 and 83 winning both giving the impression he would be better
    over further.

He then ran in a 2m5f h’cap Hurdle at Newton Abbot, where he strolled to victory
by 10l, and it could have been more if he wanted. He was raised 5lbs for that and
has a handicap hurdle rating of 125. I think at this time Pipe thought he could
have a Cesarewitch contender. He was put out on a 2m5f Hurdle at Fontwell where
Jack Tudor Might as well have left his whip, sorry encourager, in the dressing room.
He trailed in last. The handicapper wasn’t impressed and kept him on 125. He then
takes his place last time out in the Cesarewith Trial. I’ve watched the race half
a dozen times to confirm to myself That Tom Queally kept him with no place to go
right out the back. In the final furlong he waltzed through tired horses to finish
5th without having a hard race or changing his mark of 86 for this. He was giving
the winner, Grand Providence, 12lbs, he’s a 10/1 shot for this, as short as 8s, BB
is 7lbs better offwith him. He hasn’t had a hard race and he has to be worthy of
half his odds if not more. I’m realy keen on him.

    Bashful Boy 50/1 William Hill

Having been on my radar since the entry stage, I managed to miss the 25’s on The Shunter, though I did get scraps over 20’s on the exchanges, and I’ve settled for the lions share at 18’s. Settled probably the wrong word, as it’s not like I had a say in it.

Had a bigger than usual Antepost to make up the difference, and he’s definitely the main hope now. Still happy with Geremia too.

Been happy that I’ve maintained my plan so far this season not to back three in a race, but there’s a fair chance that I’ll add Tritonic as a saver.

    Geremia 50’s
    The Shunter 21’s

Brutal Jack, when I say I had scraps on, I really meant it, pennies. I checked yesterday, and no sign of support. I’m essentially on at 18’s, just put 21’s as I always just put up top odds.

    Good luck mate

I’m looking at Baez now as well with Amy Waugh booked. It’ll be between them and Tritonic for the third selection.

You can’t beat 6.2 (machine) Pied Piper and 25/1 Wordsworth now.

While all the other horses, like young children on a car journey, will be bleating: “are we there yet?” at the Bushes, the mighty Piper and his literary adversary will be just getting started.

Get them in your reverse forecasts and Exactas and just send the cheques of gratitude to me and CAS at the usual addresses.

We also accept gratuities paid in Lanarkshire Blue Cheese.

Am with Bobby here *Bobby frowns* This Geremia looks a good value ew bet. He’s unusual in that his warm up race was finishing under 4 lengths behind the winner in the Cambridgeshire, and he’s odds on to be slowly away here, one of his quirks, but that’s not too bad a thing over this trip. 7lb claimer takes the ride, first time in 2 years he’s been ridden by a claimer. His record claimer-ridden is 1212.

Skybet offers 8 places, but have just cut him to 33s. Paddy Power still go 50/1 but to 7 places – take your pick.

A cracking race with a long shortlist for me, but my two other bets will be Temporize, tough and improving in a new yard, and the lovely big filly Grand Providence, lightly raced and improving. She is 10/1 with Skybet, and Temporize at 16/1. I’ll back them both EW too. Might even do a Trifecta!

Soft ground has scuppered Vino Victrix’s chances methinks.

After 16 starts the season Yorkindness should be well tuned up for this. 40’s e/w 6 places with bill’s.
Will add another two to place on the day.

I believe the rain has made it even more inevitable that Pied Piper and Wordsworth will be winner and runner up on Saturday.

In fact they well well be the only duo to complete the course with the rest pulled up, though Geremia shapes as if 2m2f in the soup wouldn’t be an issue and could be the one for those tricast combinations.

“The Piper” will get the same surface on which he was runner up in the County Hurdle and “The Word” gets the same terrain on which he was runner up to Hurricane Lane in the Grand Prix De Paris.

I’m somewhat mystified as to why they’re even still planning to run the race – it’s a foregone conclusion.

Unlike me, VF actually knows one end of a horse from another, so this just increases my confidence!

The Pied Piper/Wordsworth/Geremia “Ces Tricast Combo” is becoming more tempting by the minute!

No frowns here Joe, here’s hoping he’s not too slowly away. Still looking at the EW angle myself. 33’s ten places with Bet365 Extra is tempting, but I might just stick with the 50’s. I’ll wait though and watch the market

    Good luck mate

As my search for the Cesarewitch winner goes into its third day I find good news for Pied Piper fans … in the month of October he is 3 from 3. Price is too short for me, but good luck to you all.
