Doubt I’ll have a bet in this, as I’d be split 50/50 between Editeur Du Gite and Funambule Sivola, but I’ll hold out hope that the presence of Greaneteen, and obviously Jonbon, might make it possible for me to dutch them.
April 25, 2023 at 02:32 #1645298Editeur Du Gite at 5’s I really like, and would add that definitely, but have to take that 20’s just now on Funambule
Funambule Sivola 20’s EW
April 25, 2023 at 11:25 #1645321I bet Captain Guiness at Cheltenham but that was in hope more than expectations, and I was really surprised with him to be honest.
I think that he’ll run here and I’ve taken 4/1 already
April 25, 2023 at 12:27 #1645329I thought he ran well at Cheltenham so at a big big price, I’ve already bet on Global Citizen at 50-1 ew
April 26, 2023 at 15:35 #1645480VtC, it’s the same pair for me, but I’ll bet only one of them. My preference is definitely for Editeur Du Gite, but as he gets pulled late on quite often, I’m going to wait
April 28, 2023 at 16:48 #1645909Well with Global Citizen not running, I’ll have an afterthought bet on Greaneteen at 11-4
April 28, 2023 at 22:37 #1645965Greaneteen for me as well. He always runs to a great level at Sandown and I’m not so sure 1m7f is ideal for Jonbon.
Greaneteen 5/2
April 29, 2023 at 01:02 #1645988I was genuinely happy with my 20’s on Funambule Sivola midweek. I wasn’t do chuffed at seeing him widely available at 40’s tonight. That tells its own story, but I topped up anyway.
Still plan to bet Editeur Du Gite around 5’s, 6’s, but as well waiting to see if there’s any Non Runners, as I wouldn’t bet him if he was way shorter
Editeur Du Gite
Funambule Sivola 20’s EW
Funambule Sivola 44’sApril 29, 2023 at 13:23 #1646039I’ll join Jeff and DBR on Greaneteen.
Of course if Jonbon is on song he should win, maybe comfortably- he has only ever been beaten by Constitution Hill and El Fabiolo in his career, and his jumping for the Henry VIII and Maghull was super but…
it’s a bit of an afterthought of a race for him. He’s a bit stressy and three big days out in a month and a half is a lot. It’s a warm day, too. He got his head down to work at Warwick and battled, and fought well to beat El Fab over hurdles, so he’s not a softie in a finish, but his lovely jumping might get rattled enough by tough graded champion chasers up in his face rather than being able to boss tiny, poor quality fields.Greaneteen will no doubt be tuned up to perfection. Henderson might regret his decision to come here, he has form for underestimating the opposition.
April 29, 2023 at 13:45 #1646050Will say it again…Wants 2 and a half miles.
El Fabiolo is just better.
April 29, 2023 at 13:47 #1646051Fair dues to the horse. He’ll probably win the Tingle Creek, maybe the Clarence House but if he panicks like that when challenged or making a mistake in the QMCC, he’s going to make life hard for himself.
April 29, 2023 at 13:58 #1646055Nice performance but to me he could be a horse that falls between two stalls, him against Edwardstone in the Tingle Creek will likely decide the best English 2m chaser but the Irish are another level.
Even with a better round of jumping he wouldn’t have beaten El Fabiolo (who wasn’t exactly faultless either) in the Arkle and he made much harder work of beating Captain Guinness here than when Energumene brushed him aside by 10L in the QMCC.
I could well see him having to go back up to 2m 4f, but that could mean meeting Allaho and they would have to hope he doesn’t come back the same horse he left, because he simply won’t beat that version of Allaho.
April 29, 2023 at 14:06 #1646059Such a nice type, ryanair looks perfect for him, 9s is short enough though
Allaho will in all likelyhood be past his best by then LD would be unlikely at 11 to be capable of last years performances, if he even came back
April 29, 2023 at 14:09 #1646060I like Jonbon but he has been a bit fortunate to find two Grade 1s that did not take much winning.
It is very difficult to see him ever turning the tables on El Fabiolo, so the Ryanair is probably where he is going.

You might be right but then he has only had 17 lifetime starts and it is not as if we haven’t had top 10/11 yr olds win at the top level before.
April 29, 2023 at 15:13 #1646088That’s a bit harsh CAS , he,s beaten the established 2 miles easily there , I wouldn’t be amazed if he stepped up to 2 and half mind
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 29, 2023 at 15:16 #1646090Not really HDLG. Captain Guinness is a bit of a bridesmaid, Greanateen has not run particularly well and Editeur Du Gite ran like he is looking forward to his summer break.
It was a strong enough race on paper but I am not sure it worked out that way.
