I’ll be really interested to see how this runs this afternoon.
Having been racing in Ireland since his 2yo season in 2012, Cappadocia has amassed eight wins in total, seven on the AW. All of these have been at a modest level.
He’d had his last run there for Mark Fahey in January 2020 and hadn’t run since until he strangely returned to the track in the UK as an eleven-year-old under a new ownership/trainer combo. That was at Wolverhampton a fortnight ago where he went straight into my imaginary little black notebook after what I would describe as a highly sympathetic ride from Richard Kingscote, the horse having been drawn out in the car park. Other opinions may be more robust.
I’ve stuck a few quid on, albeit with the huge caveat that eleven-year-old sprinters are not necessarily the absolute apex of financial investment, but it may be interesting to watch the race at least. I always wonder why horses like this suddenly come back into training, but the owners group are on Twitter and their photos show him looking well and apparently still enjoying his racing.
