My friend went into a WH shop and placed £50 win on return favourite at Philadelphia, it was in the evening.
The next day he went back and the winner of the race was a 3/1 favourite, when he produced the slip he was told you cannot have return favourite bets at Philadelphia and handed him back £25.
He accepted the clerks decision and left.
This doesnt make any sense to me
Can someone please explain?
They don’t take bets on unnamed favourites on the Tote and it states in their rules that any such bet taken in error will be void.
Since all US betting is tote based, his bet is void.
Mind you if he staked £50 as you state, and only got back £25, then he’s even dafter than the initial bet would suggest.
