“D.J. Mullins, rider of Tavern Times trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having burst a blood vessel. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer confirmed the report.”

Tavern times burst a blood vessel yesterday yet is declared to run tomorrow with Mikey Fogarty on board, which is the second unusual thing about this. David Mullins rode this horse yesterday for his father Tom, yet even though David is riding in down royal tomorrow he isn’t declared to ride this horse. He isn’t riding anything else in the race and the horse is carrying top weight so its not a weight issue either. That seems strange.

Also I thought a burst blood vessel wouldn’t be something that sorts itself out in 48 hours surely?

Maybe I’m the only one who has noticed this but it seems strange all round
