Stunning Beauty was a frustrating one at Royal Ascot, with the blindfold left on, but I’m willing to stick with her. I’m a little wary of that incident, but going by her Doncaster run, she looks as good as she did here last year, and I just think she’s sneaking in here off a nice weight.
Not bet her yet, as she’s got an entry Thursday, and waiting to see a few other firms price up, but she’s my definite #1 right now.
Others of interest include last year 1-2, Motakhayyel, and Sir Busker, but I’ll hold fire right now.
Stunning Beauty
June 29, 2021 at 12:16 #1548419Stunning Beauty out today at Hamilton, and even if she wins, I won’t bet her for this unless she turns up on the day.
No strong views on the rest, but at a push, Fundamental interesting at 12’s, but might not get in.
July 8, 2021 at 13:22 #1549774I think the race revolves around the 3 horses who are officially ‘well in’ here – Fundamental (6lbs), Perotto (5lbs) and Jumaira Bay (2lbs). All of them should handle whatever the ground throws up. I don’t like Cheveley Park’s other horse and the long-term antepost fav for this Ametist. He was incredibly fortunate to win last time and he’s 3lbs wrong under his penalty. The weight wouldn’t concern me as I suspect he’s better still than 96 but I think he’ll need to be running over a mile before we see that level of form. Can see him running a nice enough race but just hitting the frame. I probably prefer Jumaira Bay and Fundamental as Perotto tends to come fast and late which aren’t my favourite tactics to be employed at Newmarket. The only small thing with Fundamental…. Frankie probably could have done the weight if he could be bothered to get down to it, it’s only 1lb lower than weights he’s done in the past 12 months. Nothing wrong with David Egan I just have a hunch if they knew Fundamental was thrown in even more than the 6lbs he’s due to go up I suspect Frankie would be happy to do the weight.
Anyway I digress it’s Fundamental and Jumaira Bay win only 9/1 you might get 10/1 if you shop around. Seems fair enough to me I’d have them pushing Perotto as the fav.
July 9, 2021 at 21:56 #1550012A good while since I backed the winner of this but my top ratings are:
123 Cliffs Of Capri
123 Revich
121 Boardman
121 Karibana
118 Motakhayyel
118 PerottoCliffs Of Capri (general 25/1, 33/1 in a place) has very solid form in a succession of similar races and ran well until the final furlong in the Hunt Cup.
Revich 40/1 has recorded his wins at Chester(3) and Epsom, but he ran very well behind Nugget at Newbury and ran a cracker in the Lincoln so no lost cause on a straight track. Worth an each-way nibble.
Boardman 16/1 was on the wrong side in his Ascot contest. Progressive before that and has every chance on overall profile.
Karibana has a bit to prove at this level.July 9, 2021 at 23:01 #1550025I had Motty last year, don’t feel in same form coming in this year.
Fahey has won this 3 times in last 10 years, National League has plenty of ability but hard to win with, put up a good time figure last time out well clear of the field with the winner, but only looked an ordinary York handicap.
Jumaira Bay appeals for me.
Good luck with those, Rob. Boardman is a good shout.

July 10, 2021 at 15:46 #1550203Motakhayyel is a bit skinny at 6-1, but he looks the standout for me.

Happy with the run by Lord at nice odds.

Can’t remember Frankie riding too many of HannonsGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 10, 2021 at 16:13 #1550219The jockey booking certainly stood out I can’t remember him on many Shadwell horses either, obviously todays a strange day with the jockeys scattered up and down the country with nice rides. You’d think Jim or Dane O’Neill would have been up if they were at Newmarket. Saying that I don’t think it would have made the blindest bit of difference who rode him he’s bolted up.
