I’m holding vouchers at 20s and 14s on Black Hercules after following Mark Howards excellent One Jump Ahead guide and backed him again following his Gowran romp and Patrick’s glowing interview after reinforced my confidence that he was the number one in Mullins yard. However the odd report is coming out quoting Willie as giving the nod to Shaneshill for Cheltenham instead as he is also owned by the Wylie’s.
Anybody any info on the bumper?
I’ve also got Modus at 16s as he went round Cheltenham in some style recently albeit over the junior bumper distance.

This is another market that hasn’t taken off. Perhaps the usually well contested Newbury bumper might shed some light.

Predictably the Willie Mullins pair head the market but I don’t think either have looked that special. Mind you the same could be said about Briar Hill last year but at least he was a much bigger price. I think this pair are short mainly due to the lack of obvious contenders. Value At Risk has been consistently nibbled from 20/1 to 14/1 but although I like him I doubt he is another Dunguib.

Modus won well but conditions were absolutely dreadful.

I am inclined to wait a little longer.

By the way it is Declan Phelan who is responsible for pin-pointing the Irish pointers and steering Howard in the right direction.

A race I’ll never get too financially involved in but the normally guarded Mullins has made no secret of the fact that he sees Shaneshill as his best chance.

Long chat with Rich Ricci on ATR today.

Most interesting bit for me was the mention of Tarare. Point win has seemingly been let down by Sucker Punch but still being talked about as a potential Festival horse. Bound to go off very short if he appears in the next few weeks.

Nice form boost to Shaneshill today. Mullins camp adamant he’s their number one. Ignore the hype around Black Hercules.

Not an expert on bumper form but did like the win today of Third Act and had a little bit of the 40s still available with VC NRFB

No more Heroes has run over hurdles so NQ. Also Gigginstown generally avoid this race. Shame really as he has some engine.

Can’t remember too many horses that have run in two Champion Bumpers? Saw this on the Morning Line this morning and Tony Martin knows the time of day – I fully expect this one to go better than last year.

Reminds me a bit of Diamond Harry who won the informative bumper at Newbury twice. He wasn’t bad…

Sounds like both Wylie/Mullins runners will line up for the race if the going is not fast.

I think Patrick is very sweet on BH as he bought him at the sales and he had a real twinkle in his eye when he said he’d "love to ride him at Cheltenham" after his Gowran win.

Walsh has not necessarily riden Willies previous no 1’s in the bumper at Cheltenham.

Mullins has a very interesting bumper entry this Sunday in Navan…
Full brother of the mighty Quevega, owned by the Riccis

Mullins has often introduced a high class bumper horse around this weekend that wins and goes towards the head of the market.
