Good for her, wishing her every success
Having won around Cheltenham and Kempton, she should know when they’ve got one that’s suitable for a raid over here too.
May 4, 2024 at 17:33 #1692865I think she would be a pretty good replacement for Daryl Jocob, who’s had his share of injuries.
May 4, 2024 at 19:18 #1692902All the best to her and with the handy claim you’d expect a fair amount of success.
May 4, 2024 at 20:29 #1692917Just like when Haley Turner took advantage of the same allowance when she went out to France this is a no brainer decision but good on the boys in double green for signing her up…….talent like she has shouldn’t be wasted because some hold old fashioned ideas or are even prejudiced against using her.
Fingers crossed it works out for her and lets face it Daryl may not be around for much longer regardless of when he is returning from injury (fingers crossed he is able to) so it might be the foot in the door she needs and as she has ridden for Mullins a few times it could also be beneficial for picking up spares when he goes mob handed in races.
May 4, 2024 at 20:40 #1692918Paul Nicholls actively encouraged her to do this I hope she is successful.
The more I know the less I understand.
May 28, 2024 at 23:28 #1695897Bryony’s first win on Sunday in Prix Paul Balme at Sablé sur Sarthe south of Le Mans is up on Equidia at moment. She’s wearing the purple. Not for the faint-hearted! She might be better off taking her chances around some of her native gaff tracks.
June 11, 2024 at 15:47 #1697603You might be seeing Bryony sporting a sling at Ascot or Goodwood! Paris Turf reporting she will be resting for 5 or 6 weeks after breaking her collar bone at Lion-d’Angers on Sunday.
June 11, 2024 at 17:18 #1697610Sods law this happens – very unfortunate for her
March 31, 2025 at 18:26 #1725239I hear Bryony is staying in France on Saturday rather than ride Stay Away Fay for Nicholls in the Grand National.
I wonder what the master of Ditcheat makes of that decision?
March 31, 2025 at 18:48 #1725245I don’t think Bryony had any alternative if she’s retained to ride for Munir & Souede.
March 31, 2025 at 19:21 #1725247There was always a possibility there would be a clash. But it might have been wiser for everyone to see the entries rather than say she was going to ride in the National.
I can’t say it reflects well on her retainers if they are stopping her from riding in the most high profile jumps race of the season for the sake of riding in some minor races in France. Couldn’t she be let off for one day?
Or maybe Frost did not fancy riding a 66/1 chance?
March 31, 2025 at 23:48 #1725265Maybe Munir and Souede thought she might know too much about Intense Raffles being part of the operation. Or that, given that she’s had time off with injury this season they didn’t want her to be incapacitated for some important French races over the next few weeks. Pretty bad PR wise all round, though.
April 1, 2025 at 00:18 #1725266Or may be it’s as simple as her priority is France, esp as she’s based herself there
Not that difficult to work out…really….is it?!
April 1, 2025 at 12:36 #1725317She’s in good form in France – looks to be having her best run of things since she went over. Often when i have checked its looked pretty bleak – few runners and even less winners.
Even these minor races she’s winning are worth anything from 16’000 to 40’000 euro to the winner. Need to bag a pretty good saturday winner over here for that amount, never mind Nicholls third string at Taunton.
Granted you can imagine she would have wanted to ride in the national on Saturday
April 1, 2025 at 18:13 #1725340Well, Johnny Burke also refused to take the ride. P P P and a 11/24 in his last four runs might not be a cause for confidence…..
April 1, 2025 at 18:33 #1725343He didn’t refuse to take the ride, he was actually scheduled to school Stay Away Fay on Wednesday but it would appear that he got offered a better ride on the Willie Mullins trained Minella Cocooner and took that instead.
Latest update on the musical chairs edition of ‘who’s riding what in the National’ is that Paul O’Brien is now jocked up for Stay Away Fay.
April 1, 2025 at 18:51 #1725346Perhaps Messrs Munir and Souede did not want a jockey they have under contract riding against their Grand National favourite. I suppose it might have been awkward for her if she had beaten it into second place.
If so, I think it looks a bit petty. She was due to ride a 66/1 chance with no recent form. And Paul Townend often rides for the same duo (albeit not under formal contract). I assume he is riding something which could beat them.
It looks a bit unsatisfactory to say Frost is going to ride for Nicholls but then all of a sudden she isn’t riding for him because her owners want her for a race at the high profile venue of Nancy.
I can’t believe Frost is happy at being deprived of the chance of riding in the National and I doubt Nicholls is pleased at his plans being messed around by owners who are not involved with his stable.
Why announce she was going to ride if the owners were going to pull rank? Whatever anyone thinks of Frost, she is high profile and would have helped with the race’s publicity. It just looks like another case of racing taking aim and hitting itself in the foot.
