I don’t see this doing any damage to Susan Boyle. IMO it’ll be much better for her. The problem with her is pressure I think. The moment the pressure’s lifted she instantly changes.
Good point.
It was noticeable the minute Diversity were pronounced winners, the sense of over whelming relief that came over Susan Boyle’s face.
My wife had commented all along that the pressure would eventually get to her and was convinced that she wouldn’t be able to handle performing at the Royal Variety performance.
I also think that the younger voters with their multiple texting sealed the win for Diversity, along with Susan Boyle’s negative press.
Their odds came tumbling down throughout the evening, and for good reason.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
May 31, 2009 at 02:09 #231194yeah, I think it is moe, like a pantomime but there are some good acts amongst the dross. Susan wasn’t her best tonight and I’ve heard that song ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ sung better by Ruthie Henshall and Patti LuPone, nevertheless, it’s a pleasant change to see a whacky, frumpy, unattractive woman making a name for herself in this plastic age.
She can probably swear like a navvie and I expect she likes a tot o’ whiskey but at least she’s not afraid to show some personality.
I was hoping she would sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone”.I felt a bit sorry for Flawless, being overshadowed by the winner and going first, such a disadvantage for them.
I didn’t like Amanda Holden’s look this evening, I thought she was trying to do a Kim Basinger/Veronica Lake take off…otherwise I quite like her and she doesn’t need all that to look good.
May 31, 2009 at 13:03 #231215.. I have to agree, Diversity were outstanding last night.
I was happy to see Susan Boyle not go any further. The media and modern society has no tolerance of eccentric people, despite what they like to believe about themselves. They would have hounded her and ruined her life.
May 31, 2009 at 21:57 #231294Diversity impressed me, purely as they brought a complete different routine to the table, and the gimic of the buzzers was excellent, Susan Boyle has her fame and will obviously bring an album out early next year.
Young Aiden was not as impressive as the Semi-final, and the courageous Hollie i felt gave a fantastic performance, but i just felt the water works in the semi was a put on to get her in to that saturday final, harsh i know but most of the public realised due to the final 3 in the end.
Flawless were not that in the final, and Julian is probably an artist that could have a album in the future.i felt the right result in the end.
But a question to all you followers of this, do you feel it is unfair that some acts only had one day to prepare a new routine, as some had a couple of days to change things around, i feel their should be a 7 day break between the semi and final for acts to get well prepared.
May 31, 2009 at 22:24 #231298A 7 day break? No. The group that won did not need 7 days. They needed next to no time it seems and that is part of why they won. TALENT.
May 31, 2009 at 22:33 #231299Managed to watch it without vomiting or throwning the telly out of the window.
Still didnt get excited or phone up any of the rip off numbers to help fun ITV and Simon Cowell who will no doubt get a nice amount of cash for peddaling this shite.
The winning act was ok and the only good thing is that people did not get swayed by emotional voting such as for Hollie just because she was given another chance when she forgot her words on Friday.
The son of the fat dancers will no doubt look back on this in a few years and be ashamed of what he did and the 12yo girl singer who sang with her Grandad does have a decent voice and will be a lot better when she goes solo.
