I don’t normally get overly excited about this meeting, but I have had a few ap bets this year.

In the turf sprint I was swayed between big invasion and yes I am free, and I finally plumped for yes I am free at 20-1

In The filly and mares turf I have went with Al Asifah who really disappointed me on her last run. I took 16-1

In The Breeders cup turf it’s Bolshoi Ballet at 10-1, and in the classic, Arcangelo at 5-1

I’m hoping that Mostahdaf does travel there, but there’s no bet for him yet

I’ve decided to have one last ap bet, and I’m going with two in The Classic, as I’ve added Forte at 12-1

I’m having one bet, and strictly the one bet this far out with Echo Zulu in The Distaff at 10-1

I really like Bradsell in The Turf Sprint at 10-1. I’ll hold off though, and wait till nearer the time. I’m definitely interested though

Opera Singer is a surprise contender for travelling over. I’d really like to see how she gets on, not that she’s one who’d be a very backable price obviously

I’m not a big punter at the meeting, it doesn’t grab me, but I have bet Bolshoi Ballet at 20-1 for the bc turf

Placed all my bets, ready to roll, that money is gone. Anything I make back I can cheer. Love this event, it’s the pinnacle of the season so I’ll do my best to enjoy it whatever the racing gods have in store.

It’s a shame they have moved the Classic to 3rd from last, something to do with American Handegg, as it takes the sheen away from the next two races which are great events in itself.
Not a major issue, just whatever.
The greatest moment of the BC and probably of all last year was the story behind contender ‘Cody’s Wish’ who showed true grit to win for that little lad. It was emotionally stirring before the race and damn near impossible not to well up afterward.
I’ve actually gone against him this year but I wouldn’t begrudge him doing it again.

On another note, it’s good to see they have upgraded the Juvenile turf sprint into a grade 1 Friday. It’s been worthy of that status in recent years so kudos for that and that makes it 5 top races on the night. A nice starter before the main course Saturday.

Good luck everyone, savor the occasion. I always feel a touch melancholic after this as this signals the real end of the season for me. But I wind my neck in, jump on the Melbourne cup, get involved in the NH, Have a go in Hong Kong, dive into the All-Weather, excitedly await the Dubai Carnival/Saudi Cup, live for the Jumping festivals and then were back into Flat season 2024.

    Racing 4 life.

Love the breeders Cup. Pity Opera singer isn’t going as I think she was a good thing. The juvenile races and the turf should be cracking races.

Mawj would be my only strong fancy at this stage

The European contingent doesn’t look as strong this year with Appleby not having as strong a yard

Will likely also back Auguste Rodin

    Mostahdaf is better over shorter

And king of steel only ran recently plus will a horse of his size enjoy a tight turning track with a short straight

River Tiber forecast fav in a race over 1 mile, not sure about that myself.. Maybe the American horse are no good.?
I’d take Unquestionable over him, was second to Rosallion in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and was ahead of the French favourite that day who had decent enough form over 7f

A repeat of her Sun Chariot run and Inspiral should have far too much speed for her Filly & Mare Turf rivals – just hope Frankie doesn’t try and drop her out the back (no further back than 5th or 6th) but I do also think that With The Moonlight (as big as 20s) is a good e/w play as she has never been out of the first two in 5 runs in North America.

“River Tiber forecast fav in a race over 1 mile, not sure about that myself..”

    Me neither

Also think he’s been running on the wrong ground all year

He had a rounded knee action and I reckon would be better on soft going. Which he’s only encountered on debut.

“just hope Frankie doesn’t try and drop her out the back”

I’d imagine that will be their strategy, hold her up and try to Bury her behind horses to help her settle

Then try to fly home late and fast with her turn of foot

It’s a bit of an underwhelming day one for me, but I have had a bet with Givemethebeatboys at 12-1

He was pretty handy at Newmarket and I think she needs to be ridden the same here especially if they don’t go overly fast – trying to quicken from the back past quickening horses on a sharp turning track is the last psotion he needs to be finding himself in.

I am not concerned about the trip (a litle surprised this is her first time going 10F to be honest) and she settled very well at Newmarket and another 2F there didn’t look like it would be an issue….the one thing that could be a slight concern is the current firm ground, she has won most of her races on good to firm so I am just hoping it will be safe firm ground that she will let herself down on.

Zenyatta did fine. I’ve seen bigger horses run well at my local bullring (Charles Town, 6 furlong oval) too. There was a BIG tank of a gelding in the 00s with the un-PC name of Confucius Say who had to be around 17.2hh, he won 18 races at that track.
