    Pleasant Passage.

    This daughter of More Than Ready looked good winning the Miss Grillo Stakes (G2) over a “yielding” turf yesterday at Aqueduct. Historically, Miss Grillo has been a good yardstick for this race…

    Gutted impressive Marcel Boussac winner Blue Rose Cen doesn’t do but think Meditate must go well.

    Royal Ascot winner on quick ground, runner up in two Group 1s and should get a mile on a tight track.

    Historically, North American-based horses have dominated here, winning 12 times in the past 14 years.

    – of the 14 winners, 10 have won their final prep race:
    – 5 Miss Grillo Stakes (G2);
    – 3 Natalma Stakes (G1);
    – 2 Jessamine Stakes (G2);
    – 1 Fillies Mile (G1);
    – 1 Prix Marcel Boussac (G1);
    – 1 Alcibiades (G1);
    – 1 Selima Stakes (L)

    This year’s Miss Grillo winner is Pleasant Passage and Natalma Stakes was won by Last Call…

    The favorites only have a 21% strike rate, but were placed (1,2, or 3) 42% of the time.

    Good Luck, all!

    Happy to take on meditate who didn’t even look to stay 7f so can’t see her liking a strongly run Mile

    Delight 7/1
    Pleasant passage 10/1

    My two against the field

    Both won a key trial

    Especially like that Delight did so at keeneland

    Spirit Gal has shown a good deal of pace in her career so far and stayed on well over 7f last time. This track should suit her well. Form of her last win was boosted by the runner up (Cairo) winning a group 3 next time. I expect a good run. Has been backed, I did get 12’s, looks to be around 8-10/1 now.

    Meditate is a very good-looking filly.

    I liked the way Pleasant Passage finished, she should mature into a nice one.

    Only thing I got right all night – had 11/2 ante post so just about kept the wolf from the door.

    On good to firm ground is the one they have to beat in the guineas especially if the weld filly stays at home. Aiden has statuette also so maybe one will go to france or ireland. Aiden was adamant she would stay especially at keeneland. Great interview with aiden somewhere where he discusses finding a succesor to galileo and he admits it was a gamble with no nay never but boy has it paid off. Still to do it at 3 i know but so many good horses.

    Btw was according to every preview one of the worst favs of the night. What a weird game tipping and betting is. Won so easily.
