I’ll be running a tipping competition based on all the Breeders’ Cup races at Santa Anita on November 6th and 7th.
I’ll be asking you to post selections on threads that I will start after the Entry (declaration) stage for these races on Tuesday 3rd November.
You can name a selection for each race and a reserve for each if you like. If you do have a non-runner, and no reserve, I’ll put you on the actual favourite as marked on the Equibase results.
There are 6 races on Friday 6th and 8 races on Saturday 7th. I’d ask you to put your selections up for each day before the start of the first race for that day.
The points system will be 10 points for 1st, 6 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd and 1 point for 4th.
There will be a 5 point bonus if you pick the winner and it is returned at 15/1 or higher on Equibase result.
In the case of any ties the person with the most winners will be in front, then most 2nds etc.
I’ll bring back some Breeders’ Cup merchandise to send out as prizes for the first three.
Any questions please post them here and good luck!
October 26, 2009 at 16:02 #255514Well done Adrian, i had pm’d Cormack about running a breeders cup competition and had written out the rules and everything, at least i can relax and enjoy the racing now instead of doing the maths. Your prizes are alot better then the pint of cider with a slice of lemon i had arranged for the winner.

Previous winners by the way,
2007 – Happy Jack
2008 – ZozGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 27, 2009 at 10:07 #255614Thanks Nathan. I ran it in 2007 when Happy Jack won and I brought him back a Breeders’ Cup jacket as a prize. Not sure why I didn’t run it last year but looking forward to seeing all your selections.
The races pre-entered yesterday and there will be an announcement of the provisional fields and reserves tomorrow. Declarations are 10am (local time) next Tuesday – hence my plan to start the threads then.
October 29, 2009 at 17:28 #256013Nice one Adrian, I was just wondering if there would be one for the BC, I’m looking forward to this.
October 31, 2009 at 12:08 #256384Great stuff Adrian. My 2007 jacket is getting a bit worn so I could do with a new one
November 5, 2009 at 20:46 #257313Many Thanks for the trouble, Adrian.
Here’s hoping you have a successful trip, Montgomery
